Roy segment on NFL Live - 5/9/08

Nice to see Roy trying different things, although I'm not a big fan of what he's doing. Doing all that work is going to lose flexibility in the hips, somewhere Roy needs improvement and doing all the core work will reduce his flexibility in his abdomen, making the diaphragm work harder in order to breathe.

Yeah, I looked around for something and didn't find anything. Could be up-and-coming.

One thing that worries me is that it might be really old and Wingo saying he lost 32 pounds is referencing last offseason.

No, he says in the video 'in preparation for the 2008 season'.

Is this really Greg Ellis.......................? Seriously.

...about the SS position having changed in the league with it requiring different skill sets now with teams using 3-wides right from the opening series is very true and it does seem to move away from Roy's abilities.

I'd change his position.

Let him play a LBer position in this defense.

I don't see the problem there.

Let him put on the lbs. and get him up to 240-250 lbs. and see what happens.

Parcells always said he's a biscuit away from being a LBer and it's always been true.

He's sort of now become a 'tweener and playing him as a SS maybe the real problem.

Look, if Greg Ellis can make the transition, why not Roy..?

Why keep trying to put a round peg in a square hole..?

It's time to try something else.

This could be a disaster in the waiting, I hope that there is a contingency plan. Perhaps Anthony Henry could be moved to safety, put Pacman on the corner opposite Newman and use Roy on special teams, goal line and short yardage.

If it's true Roy has lost 32 pounds there is no way he can play LB. That would really be trying to put a round peg in a square hole.

i'm with you.

if he lost 32 lbs then he was pushing 3 bills because he still looks fat.

There is no way in hell Roy lost 32 lbs from his playing weight last season. If he did, he would be around 195 lbs, and from those clips, there is no way in hell he is pushing 195 lbs. If he lost weight, it once again must have been weight that he carried after the off-season.

As I said before, Roy needs to get his thinner legs back from his rookie years. His legs are too stocky now, and that is a problem as it concerns hips. It's good he is employing water-based training.

But a lot of his problems are rooted in his mentality. It took Roy a couple of years to even get too this point where he is actually making some sort of change. Before then, it was always about nobody understanding his role. Roy has incredibly late reaction skills nowadays.

You have to wonder how much weight Roy gained before he lost the 32 pounds, because there is no way he lost 32 pounds from his playing weight of last year.

.

You are assuming the media guide listed his actual weight last year. Those things are fudged all the time.
