Roy Williams is not slow

Guys:

I have heard comments that RW is slow, that is not true unless he is out of shape or injuried. In high school he finished third in the 5A 100 meters at the state meet (I think he ran 10.48). He also won the long jump (25'6") and high jumped 6'10". In shape, he should be right there with TO in terms of raw speed. I saw some games he played at Texas where he was a man among boys, however I haven't seen him play at Detroit.

Whether he will come on an be a top player for Dallas is unknown, but he has the physical tools. In fact the compares physically with Fitzgerald (SP?) in terms of size, speed, hands, and leaping ability.

Note: I don't think there is another team in the NFL that has the raw physical talent of Dallas at receiver. Think of TO, RW, Austin, and Stanback (if he develops), all 6'2" or better, 210-220, and 4.5 or better speed. Remember, I didn't say they were the best receivers, just the most physically talented.

If they could stay healthy and develop we could be really strong at receiver. Of course it doesn't matter if the QB is on his back. Note: one thing we do lack is the quick guy for the short pass over the middle.

Still licking my wounds from this year.

His foot injury really held him back this year, but I think the 'slow' we're worried about with him is mental. Our offense isn't that confusing, you've been in the league 4 years, run the right routes, and put in the work it takes so you won't have that dumb look on your face everytime you break the huddle.

Yes. But each team uses a different termonolgy for play calling.

And if the Detriot offense was a WC one then even more problems.

Yes, he finished 3rd in the largest classification, 5A.

But no that isn't Terrell Owens speed. T.O. has gotten faster and faster as a pro and was already faster at high school age than RW.

T.O. won the 100 yard dash by a good margin over the Barber brothers, Urlacher and others at the 2001 Superstars. The time was hand clocked and quite faster than reality but would have translated to amongst the fastest ever. Still his time was impressive considering he beat other competitors quite easily including Urlacher by a full second.

Terrell Owens won the 100 yard dash in a record time of 9.02 seconds. Owens time appears questionable. It translates to about a 9.85 100 meter dash, which would place him among the fastest men of all time. This done on sand in sneakers. Tiki Barber got a very quick start, evidently jumping the gun. The on-screen timer, clicked all the way up to 9.09, before stopping at 9.02 a full yard before Owens crossed the finish line. Ronde Barber won the obstacle course, but Hermann Maier's second place finish was more than enough for him to capture the Superstars championship.

No Roy is not slow at all when healthy...and actually faster the vast majority of NFL wideouts.

In his prime, Owens was faster. I'm not sure if I agree that owenss is fatser now than he was ealrier in his career.

Also, it's good to see a few here that understand the huge range and total exaggeration that has been put on 40 times over the years. If you Google "40 times" for a player, you'll see how preposterous it gets. Unless it is an officially electronically timed 40 time, you are not talking apples and apples.

Hell, I wouldn't be surprised that if you look hard enough you don't find some urban legend having big Nate Newton running a sub 4.5 40. lol

Check out this play.

Roy Jukes out Corey Webster and Bradie James almost catches him.

Bradie was a fast mug.

Owens can still blaze.

This play showed me that earlier in the year.

no, they dont. at least not on the football field.

you can find any number of youtube clips of T.O. running to see his speed in full pads.

not only that the team has discussed many times who the fastest cowboys are and RW is not even mentioned.

there is no question t.o. is significantly faster than rw.
none.

t.o. has exceptional speed. rw has good speed but does not play to his 40 time at all.

Sometimes guys that are taller like him move fast but look slow doing it.

Plaxico, Randy Moss, Vince Young.

All guys that look like they are floating but on the field they will stride by you in a second.

Roy Williams can stretch the field and I actually think he is a lot like Plaxico.

Does he have TO speed? Heck no he doesn't.

Its amazing how many people say TO has lost a step because even if he has lost a step hes still 2 steps faster than everyone else. He still has his 5th gear.
