Roy Williams is the best defensive player in the NFL!

And the best safety of all time!

Hes not even the best safety in Cowboy history.

I love Roy but Id take Woodson in his prime over Roy anyday of the week.

This man is the only big time safety who not only didnt have an experienced safety beside him but also didnt have a scheme that would best use his talents.

Yet, he still makes the pro bowl, gets voted in by his peers, coaches, fans and still led all safeties in takeaways last year. He is different than any safety the nfl has ever seen.

There has never been a safety with the combination of speed and hitting ability while not even having a real athletic body. People say he is slow but i have seen him catch many players from behind who are supposedly fast. And he is a huge playmaker. In all honesty he should have had 8 pics last year. He dropped a gift against the skins in Washington, then a drop against the lions another gift, and the pic for a td against the lions and that bogus unnecessary roughness.

I just get tired of people talking bad about him. I was one of the people who guaranteed 100 percent that Romo would be good when everyone on here was talking about how we should draft a qb this year. Turns out i was right.

Well i have another 100 percent guarantee that is even more of a no brainer than Romo being a good qb.

Roy Williams will win DPOY!

So when i come back come January bragging about how i was right again just like i was with Romo dont call me a bad sport.;)

Is that you Roy, talking in the 3rd person???

Can anyone imagine a defense that has Reed playing FS and Williams playing SS?

I hate to say it, but the Commanders probably have the equivalent of that right now (or close to it) with Taylor and Landry.

Keep dreaming. You'll have some explanation when he doesn't get DPOY, though, won't you?

Ed Reed is basically a corner playing safety yet can still hit with the best of them; Reed also can play both SS and FS positions, yet his small fram does not really allow him to utilize his superior covering ability and puts too much of a toll on his body when delivering big hits to bigger opponents... the reason why he moved over to FS. I don't know how long Roy Would last as a FS.

Roy also had his best years when Darren Woodson was here; Ed Reed really hasn't had a great safety to play next to ( Will demps? watch any giants' games... Dawan Landry? Product of the defense) yet Reed still plays great.

Reed has almost more than 450 yards in interception yards than Williams as well, not to mention the Defensive player of the year award.

Roy Williams is a great player and a favorite of mine (when he is by the Line of scrimmage) at what he does, which is deliver the bit hit, but Ed Reed can make the big hit AND cover better than most cornerbacks in this league.

There really is not a worthy comparison IMHO.

Ronnie Lott would win over Roy Williams every day and twice on Sunday.

Some of ya'll mention Ed Reed, but it's not fair because Ed Reed has had a great pass rush throughout his career and Roy Williams has not, now I'm not saying Reed wouldn't be great if he didn't have that defense, but still that's another big difference Williams and Reed.

I just had a drink and I'm still not convinced...He's average with potential to be really good.

it's called " THE COLD OCEAN OF REALITY"

I'm just waiting for the 2007 season. This season should show us THE REAL ROY WILLIAMS!!

My money is on him becoming the playmaking, game changing, impact player we all expect him to be.

I suspect Darren Woodson would disagree as well. He was a far better overall safety than Williams.

 :hammer: by the way .. one of the best S´s ever

Nah; I think we have been shown the " REAL ROY WILlIAMS!!"... Roy is a great tackler who plays the run well and delivers the most bone-crunching hits in the league.... he also is average at best in coverage as we were shown a lesson in this fact all season. We know his strengths, we know his weaknesses.

Now, we will play to his strengths to minimize his weaknesses... which won't exactly be the easiest thing in the world, considering he is a safety and eventually his man to cover is going to spread wide; it's not like teams are going to not use that to their advantage, that we are going to set him up at the line. Devils advocate.

I do not take anyone seriously that has the word "Guru","Czar", "Super", or "Greatest" in their name.

Thats like having pictures of yourself in your wallet.

average?wow.

Explain please what makes roy so average. Because average players dont come out of star players mouths last time i checked.

"we have to watch out for Roy of course"-Mcnabb.

if roy was so average other players wouldnt be thinking about him would they?

So what? SS doesn't mean they line up on the LOS. I think Dallas fans got used to that idea because Woodson did it a lot (for a variety of reasons....mainly that they couldn't stop the run and that he had the ability to slide out into the slot for man coverage if needed).

The Tampa 2 doesn't put a SS near the LOS often.

Ideally, if you're front seven is good enough to stop the run and pressure the QB, you want your SS back in coverage anyway.

Thank you, I couldn't agree with this more. Playing a SS at the LOS only admits weakness in your front 7. Course, I have been saying this for years, I want my safeties to be able to COVER. I want the front 7 to be good enough to where I don't have to bring the SS up to the LOS.

Honestly, I see Roy like a 6'5" power forward in the NBA. For his position, his weaknesses are too easy to exploit. Can't put him at LB (too small), can't put him at S (can't cover), he is really a tweener with no position. Of course Barkley was successful as a tweener in basketball, but Roy has yet to prove to me he is that special yet. And one big hit a game isn't going to change my mind.
