Yes I know that he had one ball go threw his hands and that almost got intercepted but I think he had a solid game Saturday.

I believe he had 5 catches and most of them help set the tone in the 1st Half.

Folks, this is why I have always said despite not living up to his contract, you absolutely cannot bench Roy Williams at this time.

I believe Defensive Coordinators get extremely nervous seeing Roy Williams one on one with a Corner when they double Miles Austin because he has such a great size advantage.

I think he is poised to have some big catches this Post-Season because teams will dedicate more and more resources to Miles Austin or Felix Jones as the Playoffs continue.

If he had played like that all along then the benching thing would've never came up.

All Cowboy fans want to see this guy play to his potential.

We know he is a hard worker now and he does have that Cowboy mentality.

If he just keeps pluggin away he'll get it together eventually and last Saturday was a big step in that direction.

And they spread the ball around - no one receicer had a monster catch day.

All had 5 - 6 and good yards.

I think one of the things that helps us tremendously with Roy is the fact that other teams are keying on Austin and Roy is an afterthought.

True, we also had 33 runs and 35 passes on the game. Passing wise Tony nor the WR had a monster day but they were very efficient and effective. Showing balance like that is only going to make Minn DC job much harder this week as they get ready for the Cowboys

Thats because the game was over at half.

Old School Cowboys football right there. Let Aikman do his thing in the 1st half and let them have Emmitt Smith in their laps the entire 2nd half.

Dallas did a good job of running and passing in the 1st half as well. As for the Emmitt comment sorry but if you look at Emmitt number of carries by qrts you will see Emmitt had as many touches in the 1st qrt as he did in the 4th qrt.

He made some plays, but he didn't do anything spectacular. His spectacular plays are when he uses his size. Slants are not his bread and butter. The Cowboys really need to try and attack the deep sidelines with him.

Exactly! Wanna keep your job as a starter? Then play like one!

Roy has dropped some passes, which I think is unusual for him. Hasn't he been known for having exceptional hands in the past?

I think his inconsistency can be explained in large part by coverage. When he's doubled, he doesn't get open. When he draws single coverage, you can throw to him all day. It's why he's not regarded a "number one." He has a hard time beating a double team.

But whether he's our "number one" or not, he presents the same problem to opposing defenses. You still have to double Roy to neutralize him, and if you double Roy you're gonna have a hard time doubling Austin or Witten.

And that, IMHO, is why ya can't bench Roy.

I think what helped most of all was that they ran a few things that got him involved early. They let him get his confidence going by getting him the ball early and on some routes he's very comfortable with.

I liked seeing Roy do well.

Roy had a solid game. Nothing more. He still slips on a walk in TD, he still lets a ball go right through his hands and is lucky that Samuel wanted to catch that one with his face.
This game was no reason to bench him. Nothing more.

I wouldn't have put it that way. In Detroit and even at Texas he was a guy that would occasionally drop an easy catch and then come back two plays later and make a tough circus grab. He's always had inconsistent hands but he's never been a guy that couldn't catch anything. I'd say what we're seeing lately is about what you'd expect based on his career.

Stupid play call for RW on that screen. Not his forte. He had a very solid game and was targeted probably six times and caught 5. The one that went through his hands was a hot read and he turned late. I give Roy an A for his game Saturday.

I think people are looking at the WR position wrong because of money and a trade. I find that kind of ridiculous.

It should be looked at according to production. When you combine the entire corps of WRs and compare the actual numbers there is no doubt we improved as a team without Owens.

Whether people like that or not, is irrelevant. You can look at a player from one year to the next and determine improvement or decline. But the WRs had different roles from last year to this one. It isn't fair to compare Austin to Owens. It isn't fair to compare Stanback to Ogletree.

It is absolutely fair to compare the entire Corps of WRs in 2008 to the entire Corps of WRs in 2009. Why? Because the team philosophy has not changed, merely the implementation of it.

Owens...69 receptions, 1052 yards, 10 TDs
Williams...19 receptions, 198 yards, 1 TD
Crayton...39 receptions, 550 yards, 4 TDs
Austin...13 receptions, 278 yards, 3 TDs
Stanback...2 receptions, 24 yards

That comes to 142 receptions, 2302 yards, 18 TDs for the WR corps.

Austin...81 receptions, 1320 yards, 11 TDs
Williams...38 receptions, 596 yards, 7 TDs
Crayton...37 receptions, 622 yards, 5 TDs
Hurd...7 receptions, 121 yards, 1 TD
Ogletree...7 receptions, 96 yards

That comes to 170 receptions, 2755 yards, 24 TDs for the WR corps.

I don't know about where you guys come from by I see improvement across the entire corps of guys.
