It's from a story I read in here:
Maybe suspension will teach Dallas Cowboys' Williams
Fines for using the illegal horse-collar tactic to tackle a player never deterred Cowboys safety Roy Williams. Maybe getting suspended will.
The NFL, which has fined Williams three times the last two seasons for the illegal ploy, suspended him for Saturday's game with Carolina. Williams has no one to blame but himself.
It's a dirty play, one that can result in serious injury if the defender also pins the opposing player's legs, but the danger isn't limited to that.
Williams grabbed the back of Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb's jersey Sunday and yanked him hard to the ground. It was a dirty hit and clearly a penalty and yet Williams still threw a fit when the official tossed his flag.
Cowboys coach Wade Phillips said the club has tried to coach it out of Williams, to no avail. It was a legal tackle in 2004 when six players were injured by the tactic – four of them by Williams. Williams broke wide receiver Terrell Owens' ankle when Owens was with the Eagles.
Before it was announced, Phillips said he didn't think Williams deserved a suspension because he didn't fall on McNabb's legs. But if you watched Williams pulling down another Eagles player out of bounds Sunday, he did exactly that, basically jumping on the back of the player's legs.
Williams has had a reduced role in pass coverage this year, but with safety Pat Watkins nursing a sprained left ankle, the team could be really caught short at safety Saturday. Williams should spend some time thinking about that, too.
