I'd be shocked if ends up on the team this year. I just don't see anyway that happens. I think the team goes with what they have.

However, he's a free agent next year. The franchise tag for WRs last year was approximately $8 million.

Do you think Detroit tags him next year? On one hand, it'd be hard to justify that much of a financial investment in Williams and Calvin Johnson.

The most recent Lions cap number I could find had them at about $4.1 million under.

He will be a cowboy next year. I'd bet big money on it.

With all the money that teams threw around for wrs this year the franchise tag for one should be up even more.

It's unlikey Detroit tags him. But it's Detroit (Matt Millen) so you never know.

I'd say Dallas would definitely have a step on the competition.

If Jerry wants Roy Williams, Jerry will get Roy Williams.

I'm shocked the Lions haven't decided to move him. I think from what I read from Hos a while back was that there really is no way that the Lions can afford to hold onto him.

Matt Millen is a joke but he may try to play the tag-n-trade route before flat-out releasing the guy.

One thing to keep an eye on is how successful the Lions are this season. If they suck and get a high draft pick, thats just more money they won't be able to use on RW.

Detroit has not offered him any kind of extension to prevent him from becoming an Unrestricted Free Agent.

Tell you much?

Calvin Johnson is their future-I highly doubt they offer Roy anything.

Hard to say who'll pay for his services though.

Roy is not as good at TO or Moss or Harrison, but I would put him maybe in the second Tier. By next season we should have a good idea about all our young WRs and especially Stanback. Frankly none of them look to me to ever be anything beyond good #2's. Stanback has the most promise, but I still do not see him going beyond a good #2. So we are going to need a #1.

IMHO, we really don't really know that. Roy has never had the offenses like the Cowboys, Patriots, or the Colts. Moss didn't do much during his time in Oakland, was he a bad receiver then?

Puny-armed Aaron Brooks was throwing him the ball.

Roy may not have played up to the level of the top top tier receivers yet but he has the ability. If he can stay healthy and play with a winner he can be as good as anyone. If he doesn't end up here (and that's only if Jerry doesn't want to do it), I think he'll end up in Tennessee. Another bad passing game with no receivers better than Sam Hurd on their roster and surely they will be willing to actually spend some money at the position.

I'm just wondering if Millen will tag him and try to get something for him.

I'm not sure he is top tier considering his injury issues. He's only really had one season that I'd consider above average (2006). That's the only time he's cracked 1000 yards (and the only year he played all 16 games).

Considering the above, what would he be worth in regards to:

1. Draft pick compensation if tagged
2. Salary

He can get something for him without tagging him. He simply has to accept a trade offer. Then there's no risk of no partner and being stuck for a year with the high tag.

Well, he obviously didn't get an offer he liked then. Perhaps teams are realizing that he is a free agent anyway next year and doubt Millen would actually tag him.

You realize we are dealing with Millen here, so common sense probably isn't going to prevail.

If a trade was going to happen this year, I suspect it would have happened at draft time.

:hammer:

Moss was all but "washed up" in Oakland. With a real QB and a solid offensive system he broke records left and right.

I wouldn't right Roy Williams off as second tier just yet.

Personally, I think he wants a CB in the deal and until Adam Jones is reinstated I don't think Jerry is very inclined to listen.
