RT at 28?

Hey, let's go back to the "get by" approach along the OL that worked so well years ago so we can draft more cornerbacks.

Our fans never cease to amaze me.
Especially when they use Jermey Parnell as a shining example. The Jags have buyer's remorse for signing that turnstile.

RT is not a premium position in the league so no need to spend a 1st round pick on one. You can get by with a solid/serviceable starter who gets the job done, especially when you already are paying Tyron, Frederick, and eventually Martin and Collins (if he ends up being as good as he can be). If they want to draft one then fine but it better not be a high pick.

Marcus Cannon, 5th round
Ryan Schraeder - Undrafted
Michael Schofield, 3rd round
Mike Remmers - Undrafted

^Those are all the starting RTs of the last four teams in the Super Bowl. But yeah, let's use another 1st rounder to continue to build the greatest offensive line in the history of football!

With Doug Free now retired and the front office foolishly letting Leary walk, what would your reaction be to a RT at 28?

I think this is now the most pressing need on the team.

Depends on who's there I guess. I have to say that I BEGGED and YELLED all season on here to re-sign Leary and most everyone on this board told me...."no worries, we have Collins" which is BS because the kid has been hurt and Leary has been so stout. Now Free retires and we're hurting.

If Dallas had resigned Leary you'd have complained about his deteriorating knee condition.

Move Collins to RT as an upgrade over Free.

Draft a DE/LB or a sliding WR @ # 28.

We have 3 1st rounders spent on the OL.

We have a fourth guy who was a 1st round talent, if not for the most bizarre of circumstances.

If the offense needs a 5th 1st round talent on the OL to function, either the offense is horribly wrong... Or we are severely overrating the players we have. Other teams function just fine, and even win Super Bowls, without that much draft capital invested in one unit.

I would rather spend it on a defensive player (assuming value is there). Throw a dart on a dartboard of our defense; we probably need an upgrade at that position.

Or he'll, if by some miracle Howard makes it to 28, a TE who can block and receive... Would be nice to have to replace Witten.

A good OL is necessary if you want to win a championship. BUT, spending a 1st round pick on the OL 5 out of 7 years is not how you build a championship team. If your team requires a high draft pick at every position on the offensive line then your coaches and the GM are not doing their job of finding capable talent/developing them.

Yes because with a staple of Smith, Collins, Fredrick, Martin we're just "getting by."

Our fans never cease to amaze me either..

I think the guards we could take at 28 will have far better careers than any DE.

If the RT is good enough I'd do it. Haven't watched Bolles but I have seen enough of Ramczyk to be comfortable with it.

If I am picking between the two, I take Bolles. He's mean and looks the part.

Ramcyzk looks like Hodor.

How could a person not like having a big mug like that holding down his end of the line for our team?
To bad ,but we need dudes that look like future top 10 f.b.I. most wanted list on the other side worse

Just read an article talking about how premium pass rushers like Watt and Beasley are switching sides to take advantage of the easier matchup against the RT. So yeah, the RT position is important.
