RT at 28?

I'd really hate to see another 1st round pick used on the oline.

Need defense in a bad way.
 
If you don't protect your quarterback, you might need another one. That can get pretty expensive.
 
Why does investing in the oline bother people? It's not like we'd be drafting a spot where we already have irreplaceable talent and the dude will be sitting on the bench. It's a starter that plays every down on offense SMH some people in here were advocating for mccaffery and now you're worried about spending too much on the oline?

If you have four guys that do their job well in pass pro but one dud that can't hold up all of that work from the other 4 gets wasted because there's still pressure on Dak, that's what annoyed me about Free. The o-line is a unit that's only as strong as its weakest link if we put a turnstile in at RT we're devaluing our hefty investment.

Do we have to take someone in the first round? No. Should we highly consider it based on talent available? Heck yeah.
 
It strictly depends on if someone worth the pick drops. If one of the top OT is the top player on the board at 28 take him. With the depth profile in this draft I see almost no way that is the likely outcome, but if one of them is there then he shouldn't be tossed out because of position alone.

When you invest at the expense of other needs, you get a lopsided team.............. which is what we have.

I mean if an OT is clearly the best player on the board at 28, sure. But if you have a bunch of guys somewhat ranked together, it would be foolish to go OT there IMO.

Sure, RT isn't the only need, but to me it's foolish to ignore a position of need just because you have talent on that side of the ball. A hole on the roster is a hole on the roster. Honestly, I'd rather be a lopsided team that does something well than a team that's average across the board.

3 PRO-Bowlers and another on the way (Collins) and you want to invest another 1st rd pick in the O line?
Instant reaction, but may I suggest not the most rational one. Right tackles can be easily had in rds 3-4
we are not protecting Mr Romo anymore either. CB and DE - have you forgotten last year's pass rush
 
Any position of need is fair game since they're picking at the bottom of each round. It really depends on the strength of the draft at those positions.

But is a RT going to make such a big impact for this team given the assets we already have on offense? Honestly, probably not. Especially when you can slide Collins over and probably find a decent OG somewhere.

So again, I think it would be foolish to go RT at 28 unless a tackle that you had rated so high somehow falls to you and it's a no brainer pick (and FWIW, I don't think that's going to be the case anyway). But if I have a RT ranked 20th on my board and then a DB or DE ranked 23rd on my board and both are sitting there at 28? I take the defensive player. Its time to start investing real assets in the defense if the opportunity presents itself.

It would a huge error in allocation of resources. The pass rush isn't good enough. Are people seriously dumb enough to still not see that? Trade up do whatever it takes to get your pass rusher. That's if you want to make a run. A RT IS NOT A PREMIER POSITION THAT SHOULD BE PICKED IN THE FIRST ROUND. Just a laughably dumb idea that completely ignores why we are always one and done in the playoffs.
 
I think this could get a higher priority than many think in the draft. Why? Because they cant have Dak regress, that would be disastrous. Nothing could make that happen easier than leaky O Line play. Not necessarily at 28 but I could sure see it at 60. Would have been nice to have an extra pick in the first four rounds of the draft but somebody ran their mouth about doing right by Romo.

You can have any cornerback in the league. You can have two, actually. I'll take the best OG and RT.

There is simply no way a player so critical to protecting the QB both in pass protection and the run game doesn't qualify as a premium position. If the QB is premium, the OL is premium. One doesn't work without the other.
 
Just because we don't have 2 quality DE's doesn't mean the rest of the league doesn't. In what world do teams not rush the passer from the left side? RT isn't a premium position is hilarious. What is considered premium then?
 
I feel some fans would rather Dallas reach for CB than to draft a talented RT or G.

The mindset has to change.

The 2007 Giants won the Super Bowl with average cornerbacks (with a dominant pass rush though).

Dallas can sign average cornerbacks in free agency instead of reaching for CBs in the early part of the draft.

Focus should be on talent such as RT, DE, G, DT, TE, WR, & S.

I'm not sure which is the correct answer but this is where I believe BPA plays a huge role.

Because we've seen how far an elite line gets you 2x now.....if you wanna take the next step, you gotta have pass D
 
The greatest OLine full of 1st round talent will always keep your starting QB unharmed...just like Romo in 2015 and 2016. It's guaranteed
