His contract with the Cowboys will determine what they feel about him as far as being the "swing" tackle or allow him to compete for the starter's job at RT.
The best player should be the starter at any position. But the Cowboys dropped that system in 2016 so who knows what is going to happen

fellow cowboy freaks---- Cameron Fleming was rated 38th best RT..by NFL1000...but he is actually much better than this ranking...he struggled with consistency but he has all the tools

  1. 38. Cameron Fleming, New England Patriots

    Pass Protection: 16/25
    Run Block:
    14/20
    Power:
    16/25
    Agility:
    13/20
    Position Value:
    8/10
    Overall Grade:
    67/100

Cameron Fleming is one of three right tackles that played for New England this season. He is adequate as both a pass protector and a run-blocker, but his lack of consistency prevented him from earning a full-time starting role. Fleming will have the chance to line up and make a statement as the Patriots' starting right tackle in Super Bowl LII on Sunday.

Sorry Mr. GoRico,

That list is flawed.

Any legit list would have Jermey Parnell as #1 and would likely list the 2nd best guy starting at #11 just as a sign of respect.

The have him at #9.

9. Jermey Parnell, Jacksonville Jaguars

John Raoux/Associated Press

Pass Protection: 18/25
Run Block: 15/20
Power: 20/25
Agility: 15/20
Position Value: 8/10
Overall Grade: 76/100

Jacksonville's Jermey Parnell turned in his best season as a full-time starter in 2017. The long and physical tackle missed three games with a knee injury after he was hurt on the second-to-last play in a Week 9 victory over Cincinnati, but he returned in Week 13 to help lead the Jaguars to victory over the Colts.

Parnell is at his best when he can unload his strike and jolt defenders in pass protection, but he does show the range to cut edge-rushers off at the top of their rush. In the running game, Parnell generates power at the point of attack and is able to strike, leverage, drive and finish defenders. He plays with a nasty disposition and sets the tone for the physical Jacksonville offensive line.

Parnell is an ideal tackle for the offense the Jaguars prefer to run, as he's a technically sound mauler who enjoys latching onto a defender and pushing him back. Especially effective in short-yardage and goal-line situations. Parnell is one of the smartest power-blockers in the league.

Interesting to see Jeremy Parnell ranked #9 at RT. I know our Boys could afford to match what the Jags paid him at the time, but at $5mil next year.. it would have been nice to see the fruits of our labor play out in Dallas. Don’t get me wrong.. I like ever improving La’el at RT also(ranked #16).But with our questions at LG right now, the line would have looked nice right now if:

(#4)Smith, Collins, (#1)Fredrick, (#3)Martin, Parnell

Parnell Short take: ‘Parnell is an ideal tackle for the offense the Jaguars prefer to run, as he's a technically sound mauler who enjoys latching onto a defender and pushing him back. Especially effective in short-yardage and goal-line situations’

Collins short take: ‘La'el Collins made the switch from left guard to right tackle in 2017 for Dallas, and he had his full complement of elite edge-rushers to play against every week. Collins got off to a rough start early in the season, as he was too aggressive in pass protection, which left him susceptible to the speed rush and double moves countering back to the inside. But as the season progressed, so did Collins.‘
Biggest mistake in Jerry's tenure.

Could have made Parnell the official starter in 2014 and could have signed him to an affordable contract before the season. Once he got extended playing time in 2014 the price went up. Even then they should have paid up to keep him.

That also would have removed the Leary to Cooper flow as well.

I still would take the Texas offensive tackle and Hernandez this draft, and be done with the upgrades and longevity of the unit, for the next five seasons.

I would give up some draft picks/future picks to land both players.

That, or just move up and take Edmunds, MLB.

To me, the bottom line on Fleming is here:

Coach Bill Belichick complimented Fleming several times over the past four years. Belichick called him one of the most respected players on the team in 2016 and most recently said in December, "Cam's been a solid player for us for four years, and he's always been ready to step in whenever we've called on him at both tackle spots and sometimes at guard and jumbo tight end and things like that."

Fleming, 25, majored in aeronautics and astronautics at Stanford. At 6-foot-6, he said he is one inch too tall to be an astronaut, so he put all of his effort into professional football.

BB is rather parsimonious in dealing out actual praise so that is a good sign.

Nope, Nope, Nope.
Wasn't a better player than Free and certainly wasn't a better leader along the OL and we were developing a young OL.
Ask TBeard or Tyron Smith who the biggest influence was? Free.

Parnell counted 8M against the Jags cap in 2015 when he would have been our swing OT.
When you were begging to keep him you were projecting him to sign for 20M over 5. He got way overpaid at 32M.
