RT for game 1?

If they cut Tyron and Steele not ready until mid-season then who plays RT?

Cutting Tyron saves 13.6M (Savings split between 2023 and 2024).

They need an answer before the draft to avoid forcing a pick at OT.
  • Matt Waletzko
  • Jason Peters
  • Josh Ball
  • Aviante Collins
  • Isaac Alarcón G/T
  • Alex Taylor
I think they keep Tyron 1 more year, but this thread is about the scenario where they cut him.
This is an excellent question, there is nobody on that list we feel confident in, even Peters who I feel is done. If they decide to move on from Tyron, you would think they would have to sign a veteran, swing type to start the season.

If they keep Tyron, the plan will be Tyler at LG after Steele returns.
We already are going to need a short-term replacement for McGovern if he departs. Could use Farnoik, but a player like Evan Brown makes sense. Starting experience and can either player G/C.

Exactly. I think they would keep Tyron if they thought cutting him meant they had to sign a veteran that can start for some number of games.

If they're confident that Steele will be ready game 1, then the players I listed might be enough to fill the swing tackle spot.

If they keep Tyron, then I think they'll plan to get by at OG until Steele returns and the shift Tyron/Tyler.

That would increase the probability of drafting an OG early but would force a pick.

I don't see Tyron getting cut, even with his injury history his salary is very favorable for Dallas.

I wrote about the Minnesota Center today on the draft zone, he potentially could be an elite option and a better fit in our new running scheme. You could always have him start at LG, then move him to Center when Tyron shifts over to LT. Biadiaz's contract is up after next season and he is more of a solid option. Still would have a need for a left side starter, but our best 5 would be real good next season once Steele returns.

At #26 ?

Jaelyn Duncan out of Maryland with pick 26 round one 6’6” 300 bookend tackles with Tyier Smith .

Bring McGovern back with Martin and Biadez that’s a nice starting five opening day . If 77 is healthy game one at RT Duncan is your tackle depth which will be cashed in sooner then later .

Tyler Smith should have LT cemented based on his rookie year.

If it's just one game then someone like Peters on a cheap deal. No need to keep Tyron and all that money for one game. Either way they need to be in the market for a swing tackle in free agency or draft.

My question was if Steele not ready until mid season.
