I sure would.

Would Jerry?

yes.

to hold onto wade is to see the garrett experiment through. as long as garrett is in play, wade can coach another year. once garrett is gone, long term plan falls and he gets to play today.

i'd not even offer wade dc - time to let 1 person lead.

Houck and Garrett coached together at Miami and are friends. Wade Wilson and Garrett played together one year.

houck coached with Wade when he was at San Diego. Jerry is also friends with Houck, and Houck prefers smash-mouth football, not Martz-style toss the ball deep...

I'd bet you I'm right because I'm not guessing.

You rmaking an educated guess, while I'm making an educated guess. Houck has just as much ties to Wade and Jerry than Garrett.. As far as Wade Wilson, who cares... Everywhere Houck has gone, they were dedicated to running the ball.... Jason Garrett obviously isn't... Why would Houck go to a place that would make it look like he sucks at coaching...

Last years O-line (with Sparano) played great.

This year O-line (with Houck) played average.

How is he a great coach again?

False... Did you see Sparano when Bledsoe was in? Did you see the OL fall apart last year against the Giants in the play-offs? The Giants attacked this line like everybody did this year. Sparano wouldn't have done jack-squat. He would have had to coach Proctor as well and no coaching can prevent a guy who is weak from stopping a bull-rush...

Flozell practically can't use an arm.
Kosier out for all but THREE games.
Down to out 3rd string LG who is a turnstile.

I could have been better, yes, but it is tough to be a dominant OLINE with all the injuries we had.

But why can every other team lose one or two OL an dont miss a beat? I have been wondering that. Is their depth really that bad?

My problem with Houck is two fold: the so called hopes of the future in McQ and Free apparently did NOT progress at all. Maybe they are bums but you have to wonder. AND we lost Gurode for a while last season and we did not sink into the abyss like we did this year when Kosier went down. WHY did it take so long to get Holland ready- what was going on there?
Sorry, but Houck does NOT look like the answer.

Look for Josh McDaniel to be named Broncos HC. Maybe as early as tomorrow.

I swear if the Lions hire Garrett and they win a post season game before we do all of his critics are getting banned. I will exact my revenge on you people.

:chop:
I just don't think the Lions will hire Red. Maybe if he was still a "hot" prospect like last year. Detroit needs to make a "hot" hire if they want to revitalize themselves. Good, that means Red stays and get a chnace to prove ALL the doubters wrong next season!

Before I remove the animated icon in your sig I'll address this yet again in the hopes that some will learn it.

OCs have down years with teams. Ken Whisenhunt with the Steelers in 2006.

2007 he got a HC job. Hot hire? After 8-8?

There are such things as good football minds. Garrett has one. He has a great football mind. Some will never get that.

No matter how good of a football mind Garrett has he'd prolly be the first to tell you he has a lot to learn still. Especially about winning chess matches with defensive coordinators.

I am not sure I care one way or the other.
I don't hate Garrett and realize he will be better and probably end up very, very good. I'd say he is at least as good as the McDaniels kid in NE. But he did make easy to spot mistakes this year. Such things as getting Felix no touches in an early season loss to Washington and then having 90 year old Bum suggest more outside runs and see that pay immediate dividends. But there is nary a single person alive who will make every call that is perfect.

If Garrett goes and takes Houck, Wilson and anyone else I am fine with that provided we can replace them. But that is a given because Houck and other should still be under contracts here and thus Jerry can hold them unless they are getting coordinator jobs or higher. But those guys have not distinguished themselves here so I'd say they may be allowed to leave if Garrett wants them.

Jim Bates or Gary Gibbs. Might promote Dat.

I would be all for having Gibbs return. I was a fan of him from what I heard/saw.

He very well may have a great football mind, but if he stays here, I want him to focus that great mind on running the damn ball. I think you and I agree 100% on this fact.

I do think we would have to get an OC in here that could use our personnel. I'd love to have Shanahan here. I'd have been on the phone the day after he was fired looking to meet him somewhere in private. I'd do whatever he wanted to get him here, too.

Herring did a good job coaching DeMarcus Ware and the outside linebackers. Ware used his hands and set up moves better this year. I wish he wasn't leaving, but you can't blame him.

20 sacks and serious heat

Herring says he hasn't even interviewed for the job just yet...

Herring Yet To Interview At OSU
Posted by nickeatman at 1/12/2009 4:24 PM CST on truebluefanclub.com

Despite reports that Reggie Herring has interviewed for the defensive coordinator position at Oklahoma State, the Cowboys’ linebackers coach said he has not met with any school for any position.

Herring was back in his office Monday at Valley Ranch, as were several coaches.

He said the mix-up likely occurred because one Oklahoma State official called him two weeks to gauge any interest Herring might have becoming the defensive coordinator. With a “why not?” approach, Herring said he would listen, but wasn’t putting much stock in the situation. In fact, Herring was asked to join OSU coach Mike Gundy’s staff two years ago, but turned him down to remain at Arkansas.

But Herring said he returned from a week of vacation to learn that he not only apparently interviewed for the job, but was expected to be named to the position this week.

It’s news to Herring, who said he remains perfectly content with his current job.

Maybe he's not leaving after all.

I wonder if you would be doing this much fawning over how great Garrett is if he wasn't Troy Aikman's backup
