Rumor: Bengals-Chris Henry to be cut

I'll keep my same minority opinions and say I'd like to give him a try here. If it doesn't work out, move him along.. Not like we haven't done that before.
But I would turn over every stone.

Yep, I just like I thought ..........a Keyshawn type WR with exceptional speed and route running. He's great at finding a pockets in the secondary and because of his size, it's almost impossible for DBs to challenge an accurate pass.

Those skills will certainly come in handy when the prisoners play the guards.

how friggin good is the cinci receiving core?

no one ever mentions them it seems at the top of the league but they are pretty stacked there

How could the Bengals ever replace his 31 receptions?

But..... but...... he's big and fast, tall and runs good routes. Unstoppable for DBs not wearing a red cape. You saw what Charles said.

:)

how many more catches was that for the guy lined up across from him?

he makes chad johnson better

LOL......

Yeah, Henry draws double coverage all day so that Johnson can get the desired match up against the SS.

I think that it probably works more in the reverese on this occasion.

Interesting take.

Of course Johnson has 20 catches in the two games that Henry missed. That is over 20% of his total catches in the two games that Henry was not "making him better"

He does make Johnson seem like less of a turd. Maybe that is how he makes CJ better.

Catches are hard to come by when your playing behind an All Pro and a No.2 WR whom has averaged 75 catches over the past 2 seasons:p:

But all jokes aside, Henry isn't the next coming, but he's got some skills. He appears expendable and behind Owens & Glenn we've got a bunch of "ifs"........

I think Michael Irvin has a better chance of being on the Cowboys roster this year than Chris Henry does.

funny how our teams players can make other players better but it doesn't apply to the bengals.

keyshawn didn't really do much for us because he wasn't a vertical threat

he won't have an impact in carolina for the same reasons.

if he had the speed then all of the sudden we wouldn't have needed TO to begin with.

but you can pull some stats out to prove I am a moron and know nothing so I guess my point is nill.

What was Irvins' character's name in the recent remake of Longest Yard:lmao2:

Henry has the physical atributes to be succesful. The fact that he has not been is more indicative of the fact that he is unwilling to do the things neccessary to accomplish that. Henry is also an "if" type WR. From my point of view, I'd rather stick with the "ifs" we have now as opposed to signing an if he can stay out of jail or if he doesn't test positive again and get suspended for a year or if he doesn't manage to get himself shot the next time he pulls out a BB gun on somebody or whatever the next thing is. It makes more sense to me to invest in guys who care enough about playing to try and stay clean. Thats' just how I see it Charles.

You think this discussion is silly? You just wait until Rae Carruth gets paroled. Then we'll see some crazy talk.

Damn you. You stole my joke. I read four pages to see if anyone mentioned Rae Carruth. Thanks for ruining my day. :)

On a more serious note, I heard Dexter Manley just learned to read. Maybe the Cowboys should hire him to be their next head coach.

This discussion will have relivance when Henry can 1) start games and actually be the second WR that helps balance the field for Johnson, 2) averages 75 catches, 975 yards and 6 TDs a year, at which point you can realistically compare him to a player like KJ and not sound rediculous and 3) get another job in the NFL because the Bengals valued his his ability to make players around him better so much, they flat out cut his sorry........ well, they cut him.

Slow down ABQ. It's only his rookie season playing behind a Stud WR and a very good 2nd WR.

I've always seen it differently. I don't buy into that choir boy mentality. Infact I find it hypocritical that some cowboy fans wouldn't want a talented badboy (as potrayed by the media) on our team yet in the next breath would celebrate and uphold the 90's dynasty.

It always makes sense to invest in talented players (i.e if you wantto win the SuperBowl)........choir boy or badboy.

I agree with you, he is still young and there is room for him to mature. Having said that, I subscribe to the line of thinking that you don't buy trouble. If this were a kid who had a drinking problem only or just smoked a little bit, I might consider him an investment worth betting on. He is not. He exibits too many signs of trouble. At some point, you have to evaluate what the chances of reward might be in terms of the risk you take. In this players case, the chances are exceedingly low, IMO, that even if you could get him signed to a reasonable contract, you could keep him out of trouble long enough to receive any pay off on investment.

It's just not there IMO.
