Rumor: Cowboys interested in LaVar Arrington ***MERGED***

You're pretty naive.

If he is a 'Washingtonian' why did he pay his way out of his contract? And reportedly turn down a decent offer from the team?

This guy, like most guys in the NFL, are all about the money.

he still lives here, and has no plans of moving

you act like there are only 2 or 3 teams in the league

as a Skins fan, trust me, LaVar wouldn't even entertain ya'lls offer

if he did, he would just do it so he could publicly reject it and embarrass your franchise

lol. thats why he wanted to stay in the division to play the skins twice a year?

he idolized LT who played a 3-4 OLB under parcells.

lavar is going to the highest bidder period.
i'd say we are a small, small player in that.
he said he wanted to stay in the division, minus the Cowboys, so he could play in FedEx Field once a year

"I can't see myself ever playing for them"

so that left Philly and NY

I listened to the interview live when he mentioned the NFC East

he made it clear: NO DALLAS

Since when has Arrington been such a bad guy in the lockerroom? His teammates loved him in Washington. Watch a game some time, they all gravitate towards him.

He played for two defenseive coaches before he had his contract situation in Washington ... Shotty, who called coaching him one of the highlights of his career. And Marvin Lewis, who is currently wooing him to come back to play for him.

So someone is going to have to explain to me why Arrington is such a horrible guy, because I must have missed it. Maybe this is one of internet messageboard fables that just gets repeated and repeated until it becomes true.

Arrington is a high character, classy kid

he just had a nack for speaking to the press at the wrong times last year, but still, nothing to disrespect the team

I guess you don't understand the meaning of the phrase "But you never know".

He also said that he could never see himself playing for any other franchise than the Commanders, and he might just retire.

Then he forfeited 4.5 in bonuses to not be a Commander anymore and hit the market.

He is a perfect fit for New England.

Jags and Dolphins have the inside track. But with Peterson signing for 18M guaranteed, he will be looking for around the same.

As far as the Commanders and LaVar: They forced him out. It wasnt LaVar not wanting to play for the team. Not at all.

He tried to talk his way out of town. The Commanders were content in keeping him and paying that incredible salary for one more season and release or trade him the folowing year.

There is more.

I don't care what anyone else on here says, Dale, I think Arrington is as close to the perfect 3-4 OLB as one could imagine...big, fast, physical, explosive against the run, decent in coverage, a terror when released on the blitz.

Forget the crap they had him doing in Washington...I'd be thrilled if we signed him, much moreso than Peterson or a draft pick.

I know it probably won't happen...it's probably more like us wanting to touch base with him, see what the offers are and if there'd be any chance.

However, sign Arrington, who is still really young, and we could truly go into the draft and do whatever we wanted to do on the entire first day...if we were in love with Huff at FS, we could even package picks to get him.

For those who say we would never have 3 first round picks in the secondary, that's just silly...today's NFL is a passing league...even the rules dictate that...having high investments in the secondary is actually expected if you want to be successful.

I agree. My only concerns with Arrington are his recent injury history and the amount of money he'll be asking for.

Thank you, Jesus, thank you, Lawd...

I don't WANT that undisciplined head case in a Cowboys' uniform... Parcells' scheme demands that his linebackers be in the right place at the right time, and Arrington will freelance when he feels like it, scheme or no scheme... that's precisely why Gregg Williams didn't really care for him...

Arrrington is anything but high character. I for one don't want his sorry azz on this team anyway!

I would not be surprised if we added one big homerun hitter on defense from FA. I never thought we were going to concern ourselves with it much in the draft, not with the Oline glaring at us the way it is and as thin as that FA market is. Anyway, I'd be for it, his freelancing doen't concern me.

High character my butt.

The knock on Arrington his whole career has been that he won't buy into the defensive scheme and freelances too much. Has he had a DC that he has gotten along with yet? Doubtful......

You mean, like he embarrassed YOUR franchise??

Good Gawd, you're a regular groupie, aren't you??

Bet ya Danny Boy found it "disrespectful" to the team when Arrington was runnin' around tellin' everybody that the Skins had stiffed him on a 6.5 million dollar bonus... maybe you didn't, but like I said, you apparently dream of gettin' warm and fuzzy with ol' Lavar, so perhaps we shouldn't take you seriously...

And if, in the fullness of time, we see a movie titled "Brokeback Skins Fan", we won't have to wonder who the inspiration was for it... :lmao:

Seems to be a ball of confusion surrounding the whole Arrington deal. Below is from the Cincinnati Enquirer: Maybe some other team hijacked the visit? Doubtful, but who knows?

"As for Arrington, agent Kevin Poston said Thursday the former Commanders linebacker probably would visit Cincinnati.

"I do anticipate that," Poston said. "But I can't say if or when that would happen. If he's there, he's fooling me."

Arrington's agents said miscommunication resulted in confirmation that the player arrived Wednesday night for a Thursday meeting with the Bengals.

Arrington has visited the Dolphins and Giants and could be headed to see the Jaguars, Poston said.

Arrington had the best season of his six-year NFL career in 2002, when Bengals coach Marvin Lewis was defensive coordinator with the Commanders and Arrington had 11 sacks."

my 3 nickels...

I wouldn't mind Arrington playing here. Just didn't think there was interest on either sides...

That said, I've read that he wants Julian Peterson money. The word is that Peterson's contract with Seattle set the market for his services. So looking at these numbers from ESPN.com...
It will pay Peterson, the No. 4 player overall in ESPN.com's free agent rankings, as much as $55 million over seven seasons, and includes $18.5 million in bonuses.
I just can't see it...

If it sounds like a duck, and if it looks like a duck, IT'S a DUCK. The point the I am trying to make Lavar is overrated. And yes, I would hate for him to wear a STAR!

Love to have him here. We would be the most feared team from our LB spot. Just blitz Ware or LA, whichever one doesnt have the TE on that side. Hell send both once in awhile. Could you imagine the fear QB would have playing us?

I heard it early this morning, that the Dallas Cowboys are interested into hometown Washington Commanders linebacker.

1500 said according to a San Antonio News source that Cowboys seems to be interest in Outside Linebacker Lavar Arrington.
They said since the Cowboys released Larry Allen, the Dallas Cowboys freed up some cap space to get in the bidding sweepstakes for Lavar, and a schedule visit didn't get schedule yet, but stay tuned.

I surely hope he signs as a Cowboys as well as Charles Woodson or get another first round and move up and get Michael Huff as a safety...
