Personally, I think they should go with an all silver helmet with a blowhole on top. That'd be awesome.

An eye on each side................I think you're on to something.

John Beck looks to be a top 10 QB, perhaps going as early as the third round, but more realistically probably fourth or even fifth round. His age (at 25) is a concern, as well as being a product of the BYU system that typically plays weaker teams. His arm strength is average, but his strengths include his accuracy and great decision-making ability, thus avoiding turnovers. He also has a pretty quick release and a good presence in the pocket.

a long-time backup is probably all Beck will turn out to be

by the time he's ready to play, he'll be 30

As long as he's a decent backup, who cares? It's not like we need a starter right now.

Good point.

I however don't really care for the move because it means Dallas would be more likely to carry 3 QBs.

Ok, I know this is ridiculous but follow me on this...Speaking of the Dolphins uniforms, have you ever wondered what the result would be if the dolphin (or porpoise, whichever it is),on the Dolphins helmet was actually wearing a helmet with the true Dophin helmet logo? Wouldn't it theoretically go on for infininty?!! Hmm...

Maybe that's why the Dolphin wears an M on his helmet? :D

I don't know if it will be Beck, but I'm starting to think that Dallas won't keep 6 receivers, but will use that spot for a third QB instead...

Actually, I wonder if some of it depends on how much they like Bartel.

the Cowboys won't waste any time grabbing Beck off waivers.

He would never make it to us on waivers.

If we want this player, we will have to deal for him.

I had the opportunity to watch the game tonight once again and I was completely unimpressed with him. To me, he's no better than Matt Baker was, he just got more exposure.

That was my thought on the matter too. We are pretty far down the pecking order when it comes to the waiver wire. And someone will want to take a look at a 2nd rounder that gets let go this early in his career.

However, I wouldn't mind bringing him in and seeing what he has. The scouting reports on him sound like his strong points would fit into our system and he might make a good backup.

At this juncture, we might be interested in a player who could be better than Bartel.

I am convinced that we aren't going to get rid of Brad Johnson and will ride that cart until the wheels fall off. All we can do is keep the fingers crossed that Romo isn't injured.

But Beck would be a nice option to turn to as a backup for 2009, which is really what we need to be concerned about.

For them, he was their best hope. Here, he's a backup. In Indy he's a back up. It's all about opportunity.

I guess I should have added an "eventually" after saying he Might make a good backup. Still, if Brad is gone as far down the road as I think he is those wheels might fall off quickly and we might be turning to a Beck sooner rather than later if Romo couldn't go.

The roster numbers game always has intrigued me.

I think you should keep the best players. Unless it becomes something that hurts the overall efficiency of the team.

If you get obsessed about carrying 4 TEs or 5 WRs or 7 OL etc. then you really have lost focus.

If Beck has potential as a probable backup next season, why not keep him as an inactive.

We carried Terry Glenn as inactive entire season and paid him millions for the privilege. Why worry about a roster spot that you really can designate as nothing anyways?

We could use a young QB here. We got stuck in that same rut before and kept thinking we could just manufacture options.

We had Wade Wilson around collecting dust for years and before we knew it, Aikman was gone and we were playing idiotic games with the QB position.

It is not something to be taken lightly, even when you get to the third level.
