Rumor: Cowboys to pass on Jeanty

Agree but let's not forget, that they are about to pay Osa $25M. They KNOW they can draft the so-called 2nd or 3rd best DT in the draft at 12, yet they are still willing to pay Osa. That tells me they value Osa's traits and experience over any rookie DT they can draft at 12. As mentioned before and this is just my take, signing Osa takes DT off the board at 12. Keep in mind, signing Osa also means you now only need solid tech 1/NT or run plugger who is likely only a 2-down player.
Signing Odighizuwa means nothing as far as drafting a DT. You need two good 3T's in todays NFL because you line both up in B gaps 70%-75% of the time. Even if Smith improves he is not a B gap player. Another reason why you dont draft 1T's in the first

I agree but question committing this much resource if you are going to be a run-first team. It's almost having an offense in the mode of Parcell or his dad ........conservative ball control.
Did you catch what Schott said, got in trouble in Seattle wanting to throw the football to much. That tells me, more of a balanced attack.

OK ....we will see how it plays out

Nothing but conjecture. Stick to your board at 12. Don't even look at depth of the draft. Don't look at the depth of the running back position, don't look at the depth of the DT position, and run your draft off what could be had later. The draft is about acquiring talent. You take the best talent regardless of position. If Jeanty is you're highest rated player when pick 12 comes around you take him. I'm sorry but I find it crazy that people would pass one of the top rated players in the draft because they MIGHT find a real good one later. That's silly talk and not the way good teams are built.

I'll believe it if they have him sitting at 12 and pass. Otherwise this reeks of misdirection/misinformation. They loooove the big time RB more than any other position they always think of Emmitt and not how reality was dealt 30 years later for football.

I'm not putting any stock in that source that no ones ever heard of. Did that link show up on your Facebook news feed?
I'm 80% sure that the Cowboys would indeed draft Ashton Jeanty.

Maybe, but its much much harder to find good DT's later in the draft than it is good backs. Even in a strong year. DT is deep this year but not nearly as deep as HB. This HB class could be historic
Trading down into the 20s while picking up a late 2nd round pick would be ideal. If someone like Oregon DT, Derrick Harmon (6'4.5", 313 lbs, 4.95 40 time, 1.74 10 yd time, 34.375" arms, 10.375" hands), were there in the 20s, he would be an ideal 1st round pick for the Cowboys positional needs.

You must of missed a lot. He's a top 3 player in this draft behind Hunter and maybe Carter. If he's there at 12 he's 100% the BPA and should be the pic. This team has only had true success with a great running game and never had a great running game with running back by committee or with a 5th rounder running the rock.
I think the point he is making is he may already be gone before 12

If the Bears draft their bosrd (I expect they will) it becomes a moot point. Some of you need to stop expecting them to do this, that, and the other and get real. Bottom line: this team needs to get major production out of their first three picks no matter what position the play since the last two drafts are not looking so hot right now.
