Rumor: Dez Bryant

To Sapp's credit, he's just commenting on the rumors. He's not actually reporting it.

When you're a mediot, it's one and the same.

I know where he got this info. Sapp was on Ben and Skin for a pretty long time yesterday morning, and Ben had been saying before that interview that Dez was missing meetings and being tardy even recently... Not last year.

It's so funny how everyone claims the media just makes up every piece of bad news.

Sapp is a moron. He just wants to cause trouble when there is none. DEz will be back and be very productive

So we are supposed to accept and believe everything off of a radio show?

That's funny.

I don’t know if this is true or not but wouldn’t surprise me. Everyone thought Dez was going to play Sunday, even Jerry Jones. Not sure Bryant’s head is in the game. Fighting with his gf at the stadium, stuff like that makes me nervous for his future.

But, this ain't your Wade Phillips Cowboys either. Look at the guys Garrett has already cut. Believe me, he ain't afraid to punish Dez either.

He brought in a new WR coach, I think specifically to push Dez harder. I'm not worried about how JG will handle Dez.

Did Ben have a source? I don't think it's so much that the media makes up news as, as hyper as the Dallas media is for negative news on this team, real stories don't stay covered up long. They'd normally start locally and then spread to a national guy like Sapp. If Sapp's referencing them, and they unsourced and still anonymous rumors, it's hard to give them much credibility.

That said, I have no problems believing Dez is a pain in the *** to manage. That pretty much comes with the territory with WRs, and Dez fell in the draft for a reason. I'm sure there are issues there someplace.

Yeah, and that's how it all starts.

What's the average schmuck fan going to take away from this? Not that Sapp was talking about the rumor that Dez skipped treatments and meetings, but that Dez has skipped treatments and meetings.

Whatever. If folks want to believe in rumors, then they have to accept that Troy Aikman is gay.

Well, when they believe Dez was with just a "bruise", then it's not hard to believe they'll accept whatever they are told.

perhaps we could hit you in the quad with a sledgehammer and see how quickly you came back from it.

True, some of these bruises I have seen are very deep bruises and can affect your mobility. As for the rumor right now that is all it is.

Here a bit more info on Quad Bruises

Yeah, let take it to the extreme. Did anyone say cut him? I guess the truth hurts for you so you go to the extreme

like calling him a huge bust in another thread?

The team needs Dez to step up, their are serious questions about him, no one is denying he has unlimited potential and talent. All that talent is no good if he is always hurt or dealing with off the field issues. The skipping meetings and treatments is not exactly new information. Is is a reoccurring issue with him.

No, you have serious questions about him. You are willing to take internet rumors and talking head chatter as fact.

Oh, and go back and read the article. It doesn't say that Sapp knows for a fact Bryant is missing meetings and treatment - the entire statement is conditioned with the word "if".

But hey - thanks for the warning the sky is falling. Some will appreciate it.

Of course there are.

Again, I have no idea why this upsets people so much. Everyone acknowledges that Dez is a great guy who has has major time management issues. No one has said he's a Pacman Jones or even a Michael Irvin.

People should go listen to the very good interview with Mike "I'm a Man!" Gundy in the Daily Zone... He said Dez is a great kid who did everything the team needed him to when they asked him for something off the field, but he's basically a big kid in a grown man's body who has issues like this.

Why does that get people so upset? I truly don't understand it, and I'm as Pro-Dez as anyone.

It's so funny how everyone claims the media just makes up every piece of bad news.

It's not so much that the media make up stuff, but they are so desperate to get the story out early that they will repeat the claims of others without independently verifying.

So NFLN, ESPN, Fox, and CBS might end up running similar stories based on a rumor from one source, no matter the credibility of said source. And if it turns out to be false, no biggie, they just pretend like the story never ran. No apology, no retraction, no face-saving required.

No... Only the positive things.

Give me a break.

What are the positive things? I can't recall many, other than Player X looking good in training camp.

The media, particularly local Dallas and Mr. Booger Picker, have been so wildly inaccurate with their reports on the Cowboys over the years that yes...I *firmly* believe that they lie and make stories up. And I'm talking a lot of the time they are making stories up. You cannot be this inaccurate and not do that.

Remember Calvin Watkins' story on the plane flight delays in 2008? It was a lie. And what did Watkins get for it? A step up working for ESPN Dallas.

How about Mac Engel and the story report of Wade saying 'get your ring finger ready', claiming Wade was guaranteeing a Super Bowl? Another fabrication...and Engel is still employed and recently wrote one of the dumbest columns I've ever read.

How about Keith David dying? Or Terrell Owens trying to committ suicide because 'he couldn't handle playing for Parcells?'

Or Romo being yelled at by a defensive player after the Jets game?

It should become obvious that accuracy and integrity means next to nothing for the media. They are the equivalent of a tired Carrot Top standup act. Just throw something...anything...negative and that is 'doing their job.'

It reminds me of the final season of 'The Wire.' Except everybody is becoming Templeton and nobody cares to be Gus. My guess is that people see you can be a liar and make out well in the sports media industry. Just look at Mike Florio.

maby if dez wore thigh pads like majority of receivers he would not be injured

So you guys didn't believe that Dez was going to be out last week, and now you don't believe that he's skipped rehab. Well, I guess it's your right to keep your head buried in the sand, but this stuff doesn't get made up without some basis in reality most of the time.
