Rumor: Fisher to coach Cowboys

Sorry if this is a re-post, but did you guys see this on si.com? Pretty interesting. He's still a pretty good coach, he just doesn't get support from ownership.

Titans coach Jeff Fisher's name has been thrown around as a possible replacement to Joe Gibbs in Washington or Bill Parcells in Dallas if either quits after the season. But the Titans hold an option on Fisher for 2007.

I doubt it. I believe Jimmy Johnson before this ish.

Why would we switch to 4-3 for Jeff Fisher?

So disappointed that I'm not seeing Zimmer's name.
If that sad-sack Campo got a chance I don't see why Zimmer would not.
Also, unless Fisher is fired, why would he want to leave one of the most gifted QBs in mammary?
Yes, Fisher gets little support from management, but I bet he'd love to stay and ride the coattails of Vince Young.
I'm better Jones also will seriously consider Zimmer if and when the situation arises.

Pete Caroll anyone?

:laugh2:

Please convince me that you aren't serious. Pete Caroll took over for Parcells in New England, and the ship almost sank. In fact, it did sink. The players were so happy because he was a "happy go lucky" guy that let players police themselves. Does this remind you of any former Dallas coaches?

The Patriots players were so happy to see Caroll's undisciplined ways after Parcells left New England. I don't want that here.

This is not college football.

I personally believe, having seen just one start by Romo, that Parcells will give this another year, AT LEAST. He's re-energized and I don't think he'll quit on this team under Romo after just one year - he'll want to stick around and have the year most of ux expected, and STILL might get, which is a run at a SB.
Having said that, Fisher would be a good choice and quite possible. Remember how our last in-house promotion worked out? Then again remember how our last FA coach did? Hhmmmm... I also believe Weis could be lured back to the pros, and I also think Parcells himself would have a big voice actually in naming his successor. Jerry would be a fool not to take Bill's advice if and when he goes out, but I'm not sure who Bill might be leaning toward, if he's even thought of it...

We have a gifted QB on the mammary as well. He is young and still a bit raw.

Exactly! Let him try to hum conquest just one time in that locker room and see how well that plays out. Besides that look at USC way over rated always have always will be. Can't wait to see them get punked by Palo Alto State AKA Stanford this Sat...:lmao: :lmao2:

What? This thread had gone on this long with no mention of Bob Stoops? lol

I believe Fisher would be a solid choice. I just believe Jerry will bring in somebody who has experience and can deal with the media pressure they'll be under here. No more Chan Gaileys or poodles as head coaches.
