Rumor from NFLN on Brent's suspension

Nobody is expecting him to be a savior. He can add depth though.
Personally. I think we could probably find someone just as capable after the final cuts. But Jerry is determined to get him here. So I'll hope for the best out of him.

I kind of expected 6 games, but considering how much football he's already missed, I guess it makes sense.

I'm expecting the knee-jerk reaction to be pretty bad. "Killed a guy and only got 4 games!" and such.

He'd be the best true 1-tech our defense has. A big guy who can't eat up double teams and allow the 3-tech to rush the passer. The 1-tech is like the fullback of the defense. He does all the dirty work while the other guys get their numbers.

Whether it is 4, 6 or 8 games, he still won't play this season(or anything significant). He may get into playing shape by mid-season but I would not expect much. It is not like riding a bike, his footwork and instincts will need tuning and that will not happen overnight practicing on the side IMO.

ARLINGTON, Texas – Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones anticipates that commissioner Roger Goodell will rule on defensive tackle Josh Brent’s reinstatement to the NFL before the Saturday afternoon’s deadline to cut rosters to 53 players.

“I’m thinking that it was in the next day or two, but we haven’t heard from it,” Jones said. “I’m just sure we’ll get some word here as we’re making this roster and we’re making these decisions about the status of players and certainly the players that are on the 53. So I would think just knowing that it’s roster-making time, we would hear something from the league on Josh Brent.”

The Cowboys will create a roster spot for Brent as soon as he’s ruled eligible by the NFL...

Brent is a long way from being ready to play I would imagine. I am hoping he can use this terrible tragedy to better himself as a person first and use it as motivation to bettering himself as a player second. I bet he comes in with huge motivation. This team can use any talent it can get its hands on for the d-line.

I would be shocked if it was "only" for games.

He killed someone . They can't possibly give him just a four game suspension? That's on par with failing a drug test, lol.
