According to the widely used chart Houston should have gotten Denver's 3rd as well to even things out but maybe they decided to take whatever they could get and run with it.
10th = 1300 points
21st = 800 points
56th = 340 points
With that trade Houston comes up 160 points short, while Denver's 3rd rounder is worth - you guessed it - 160 points.
tha chart is outdated and no longer applies according to jeery jones... and it was originally created by dallas....
it has been stated there are 7 or 8 prime selections then it tails off some.
the 10th pick would be below that threshhold.
I do not think houston would get a 1st, 2nd and a 3rd for 10. They may well get a 1st, 2nd and a pick next year but its doubtful it will total up to that chart which gave higher choices more points then the current system dictates.
The slotting of salaries had adjusted point values more closely together. The top pick in round 2 is actually worth more than a bottom 5 round 1 pick cause of contract situations.
I really like Peterson a lot and would be ok trading up for him but not in a massive give up of picks.
I'd basically offer a 1,2 and 5th or 6th at most.
