Rumor: Isiah Stanback practicing at CB now?

I think you are wrong. Four games into his career and people are frustrated over a 4th round pick?

It's a concern he hasn't be activated yet? Which WR would you rather sit down?

Miles Austin. He hasn't done jack.

...will be resolved when both Henry and Newman are on the field. I see no need for Oglesby to be dressed then as another safety.

That would be Stanback's opportunity to get on the active roster as a special teams player.

I don't think Newman would be getting much time returning punts after his injury so it really comes down to can Stanback return punts or kickoffs better/same as Austin and Thompson?

We are really after the "better" category because of his measurables. If he can't, why?

Special teams are always an easy transition onto a team's roster because of the singular nature of the jobs. Get the runner! Block downfield! Run to daylight!

If Stanback can't get these concepts it may be difficult for him to get more complex ones at the WR position.

If he doesn't see the active roster this season despite a healthy roster and he's healthy I suspect things will not be going well for Dallas' 4th round pick.

I think only stupid gomers are frustrated over a FOURTH RD PROJECT.

im only upset cause I wanted Brian Robison........who has been playing very well for Minnesota thus far........while our guy is just a friggin project.

I mean now that Ellis is healthy, the idea of Ware and Ellis coming from the outside and Robison and Spencer coming from the inside on an all out blitz makes me salivate like a pack of rabid wolves.

But we didn't take the guy who simply made plays in college all over the field. We didn't take the guy who was absolutely dominant at the combine with his numbers.

We took "THE PROJECT"

I just want to see "THE PROJECT" get on the field.....do some reverses, reverse option passes, lineup as RB and do some pitch passes, do some KRs......I just want to see this kid in action. Otherwise to me, he will simply be Skylar Green Pt. 2.

If you can come to that conclusion after 4 games ...... there is really nothing more that can be said to you.

Instant Gratification Society strikes again. No matter which round if they did not like the pick the guy has to be a HOF player day one or he is a bust.

I mean how many 4th round picks in the NFL become starters or stay in the NFL more than 3 years. I bet the % is lower than what they think it is.

So let the IGS whine like they always do; while we let the coaches try to develop a player. Remember we are not allowed to develop talent unless it is IGS's guy and the pick they wanted Dallas to take. If not then the Cowboys are Idiots and anyone else drafted in that spot is a bust unless they look like a HOF day one they start to practice.

at least Skylar Green got on the field....his biggest issue was holding onto the dang ball.

we are winning, so we don't need Stanny right now. However, as a luxury, I would like to use him on gimmick plays a few times a game.

Well I wanted Jason Hatcher 2 years ago, and a lot of people bashed the pickwhen we took him in the 3rd round....He played well last year until his injury. This year though, he is off to a slow start. I think he will be fine though.

It's the nature of the beast. We all have a list of guys we want and are devoted to as fans. When our team has a chance to get the guy and doesn't, we hold a bit of resentment. We watch our pick and the team's pick and compare the two. Hopefully the team made the correct choice, but sometimes they don't, at least not in our individual eyes.

He is on a team of very good athletes. He is recovering from a major injury and he is about 3 years behind the athletes in front of him on the learning curve. Are you serious? You actually EXPECT a 4th round PROJECT to come in here and start somewhere or else he is a bust. Oh my god! You have to be dense to actually believe that crap. A 1st rounder would be doing exceptionally well to see the field here. The ONLY reason Spencer is on the field is because Ellis is hurt. Otherwise he would be relegated to backup status too. Sheesh! Some people. :bang2:
1) Please, show me where I wrote bust. Assumption an be an ugly thing.

2) What does Spencer have to do with my post? BTW, thanks for the info on him. Outstanding thought that's been common knowledge since the freakin' draft.

3) Tyson Thompson isn't 3 years ahead of him on kick off returns. Which is where I stated he ought to be. Said nothing of receiver.

4) Heard nothing but high praise about this guy, from other teams as well, and is doing nothing. Excuse me for wondering why.

5) A 4th round draft that was a 4th round draft because of injury NOT athletic ability.

btw, why does eduncant have a vendetta against Henry? everytime i read a thread, no matter the topic, he finds a way to smash Henry.

I personally think he has a man crush on the guy.....stalked him.....met him and got turned down......and now he bashes him everywhere he goes.

On a side note.......Henry came from South Florida correct? Well they have another guy down there who apparently sticks to people like glue. He was all over Auburn receivers in that upset. His name is Mike Jenkins

These are the current CB rankings from http://BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1
  1. http://www.BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1/college/PennState_logo.gif Justin King*, Penn State
    Height: 6-0. Weight: 186.
    40 Time: 4.32.
    Projected Round: Top 15 Pick.

This guy's ceiling is so high, it's sick. What if he runs a 4.2 at the Combine? He'll be projected as the next Deion Sanders. Like Sanders, Justin King plays both ways and special teams.

King turned himself in to police to face charges of trespass and harassment in April. The charges were dropped, however, because of lack of evidence. It remains to be seen if certain teams take King off their draft boards in the wake of this incident.
  2. http://www.BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1/college/Kansas_logo.gif Aqib Talib*, Kansas
    Height: 6-1. Weight: 183.
    40 Time: 4.47.
    Projected Round: Top 20 Pick.

Aqib Talib picked off six passes in 2005 and lined up as a receiver on occasion in 2006.
  3. http://www.BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1/college/BostonCollege_logo.gif DeJuan Tribble, Boston College (9/5) http://www.BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1/images/up.jpg
    Height: 5-9. Weight: 190.
    40 Time: 4.42.
    Projected Round: Top 20 Pick.

After an outstanding 2006 campaign, DeJuan Tribble has started where he left off. Tribble recorded seven tackles and three interceptions against Wake Forest; not some mid-major or 1-AA school. Tribble definitely helped his already-impressive draft status.

Played well against the run and returned two picks for touchdows in 2006. Tribble intercepted seven passes last year.
  4. http://www.BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1/college/USC_logo.gif Terrell Thomas, USC
    Height: 6-1. Weight: 200.
    40 Time: 4.40.
    Projected Round: Top 25 Pick.

A jack of all trades, Terrell Thomas can play corner, safety and return specialist. He also returned a blocked field goal for a touchdown in 2006. The leader of USC's locker room.
  5. http://www.BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1/college/Arizona_logo.gif Antoine Cason, Arizona
    Height: 6-0. Weight: 182.
    40 Time: 4.39.
    Projected Round: 1-2.

Considered on the same tier as Leon Hall and Darrelle Revis before he pulled himself out of the 2007 Draft, Antoine Cason has picked off 10 passes in three years at Arizona. Cason has similar attributes as Hall, who was drafted 18th by Cincinnati.
  6. http://www.BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1/college/SanJoseState_logo.gif Dwight Lowery, San Jose State
    Height: 6-1. Weight: 185.
    40 Time: 4.38.
    Projected Round: 1-2.

An interception machine, Dwight Lowery led the nation with nine picks in 2006 after registering 13 in 15 games at a Junior College.
  7. http://www.BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1/college/LSU_logo.gif Chevis Jackson, LSU (8/30) http://www.BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1/images/up.jpg
    Height: 6-0. Weight: 190.
    40 Time: 4.42.
    Projected Round: 1-2.

Granted, he wasn't going against the greatest aerial attack in the world, but Chevis Jackson played great against Mississippi State. Jackson stole the spotlight almost instantly when he broke up one of the first passes of the game.

Jackson has the athleticism NFL scouts, coaches and GMs will drool over. Can return kickoffs and punts.
  8. http://www.BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1/college/SouthFlorida_logo.gif Mike Jenkins, South Florida (9/27) http://www.BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1/images/up.jpg
    Height: 6-0. Weight: 200.
    40 Time: 4.43.
    Projected Round: 1-2.

Michael Jenkins was all over the place in South Florida's upset victory at Auburn. Jenkins intercepted a Brandon Cox pass and took it down to the Tigers' 3-yard line.

Jenkins was ranked higher until he was arrested this spring for fighting outside a bar. No charges were filed, but this could still set off a red flag; coaches and general managers are much more cautious now that Roger Goodell is piloting the NFL.
  9. http://www.BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1/college/VirginiaTech_logo.gif Brandon Flowers*, Virginia Tech
    Height: 5-10. Weight: 190.
    40 Time: 4.42.
    Projected Round: 1-2.

Labeled as Virginia Tech's next star NFL-bound corner, following in the footsteps of DeAngelo Hall and Jimmy Williams. Brandon Flowers notched 3.5 sacks and three interceptions in 2006, earning a spot for himself on the All-ACC First Team.
  10. http://www.BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1/college/TennesseeState_logo.gif Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Tennessee State
    Height: 6-2. Weight: 182.
    40 Time: 4.37.
    Projected Round: 2.

A tall corner who runs a 4.3 is pretty rare. Getting one that picks off six passes in a season is like finding the Loch Ness Monster.
  11. http://www.BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1/college/OhioState_logo.gif Malcolm Jenkins*, Ohio State
    Height: 6-1. Weight: 202.
    40 Time: 4.55.
    Projected Round: 2.

A three-year starter and member of the All-Big Ten First Team, Malcolm Jenkins picked off four passes in 2006.
  12. http://www.BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1/college/Oklahoma_logo.gif Reggie Smith*, Oklahoma
    Height: 6-1. Weight: 198.
    40 Time: 4.47.
    Projected Round: 2.

Reggie Smith, who should wait until 2009. Doubles as a return specialist. Had a fumble returned for a touchdown against Miami this year.

Chevis seems slow though........

one guy i am impressed with at LSU is that #7 Hightower, but he is a LB

Another guy from the SEC I really like is Quentin Groves. before he got injured in the Florida game, he was all over the place. I hope he gets back on the field soon.

In years past, I had been hoping that Dallas would draft some of my favorite Longhorns. However, this year, I hope they completely shy away from any Horns. I am not impressed at all with this years draft class coming out of Austin.

Chevis is anything but slow. He'll probably run low 4.4s. And you're talking about Ali Highsmith. He's a heckuva player -- he's all over the field. He'll probably be moved to SS in the NFL, or he'll be one small LB.

If he could become a Troy Brown for us I'd have no problem with that.

I second that, I guess. There just aren't a lot of successful two ways guys in the league though. It's also one thing if that's the plan, and another thing entirely if you just don't know what to do with the guy.

OMG and 6'2"?

Im hoping he falls because of the small school, he could be a steal in rounds 3-4

You mean in Preseason? Because we released him before the real season started last year.

"Stanny" played for us in the preseason ..... so I guess he "saw" the field as much as Green did for us .....

A lot of these 40 times are inconsistant with other sites. Personally not sure what some of these guys will run, but they won't be this low.

I have read and heard good things about all 12 of the guys I listed.....if they all come out and the hype is true.....the CB field is very deep....Dallas would be wise to grab 2 in the first two rounds. Which two, I am not sure...that would be up to the scouting dept.
