all it says is that the skins are SET to pay Briggs... it doesnt say anything about actually making an offer

Is Briggs really worth dropping out of the top 10 in a draft this loaded?

I think that's the point. There are so many talented players in the top 50 that the Skins CAN afford to trade down to 31. They'll still get a quality DT or DE at pick 31. They will also pick up a top 5, 26 year old OLB in the deal.

They could also trade down from to 31 to around 40 and pick up a 3rd rounder or something like that.

So you're saying there's not too much sugar in the Koolaid?

Dude, put the kool-aid down. Noway to spin this one buddy.

Trading the 6th pick in the draft for the 31st pick and an outside 4-3 backer is just freaking ********. Nobody can defend something like this, talk about the Bears doing a rape job on you guys.

Freaking ********:laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:

if this happens.......the bears will have officially made the deadskins their b***h

Not yet there still needs to be a few more trades like Denver has done to DC. For amusement Chicago should throw Archuleta in to even out the trade a little. :laugh2:

lord have mercy.

two real big issues here
1. The Skins's signees haven't exactly lived up to any top 5 or whatever billing so lauding them as thus is just silly at this point. Stick with young and proven. Briggs was playing beside Urlacher and on a great Bears defense. That won't be the case in Maryland/Virginia wherever the Stinks are.

2. If it is a good and deep draft then the value of going from 6 to 31 is about 3 more draft picks with at least 2 of them being day 1 selections. Not to mention the 6th player is still rated elite class Pro Bowler while the 31st is going to be a future starter type. There is a drop off in talent severely by 31. 4-3 DEs are very very hard to come by after the top 10. That's why Dallas is in the 3-4. DT? Dallas could very well take one at 22.

It is making for good reading at ES - the meltdown is in full swing, as the blind supporters declare that any dissent should just go be Cowboys fans, and the homers swoon about the phenomenal Dlinemen they will be finding at pick 31.

hello moto....

indicate Briggs, Rosenhaus and Skin's agree to contract - 20 mil guaranteed and they are awaiting approval from the Bears, just FYI.....no links..

i really do not understand chicago's approach this offseason. they are basically dismantling a top-5 defense.

combine that with the difficulties in resigning lovie smich, and it all just seems really strange.

Briggs says he refuses to play with the bears because they put the franchise tag on him.

So either they trade him or he sits out at least 10 games.

I don't know if anybody else caught this or not -- no time to wade through the pages here. But the author states that the Bears will get 7.2 million off the cap but they will have to pay out twice that for the #6. This is misleading. Yes, they'll have to pay that kind of money but that won't be the cap hit of course. The Bears will save millions on the cap this year.
