on NFL insiders on ESPN just now. Just caught a glimpse. Any info on this? Sorry if already posted

Just checked NFL.COM and didn't see anything there. Maybe the insiders are just throwing stuff out there to justify calling themselves "insiders". :)

We'll probably get a fifth out of it.

I'd rather keep him.

Blows my mind he was willing to sit out now season, when he was playing for pennies. This year he was going to make over 2 million to play.

You gotta understand, for these guys there is one go round, and in Leary's case, because there is the concern about how long his knee will hold up, he is even under more pressure to put a good season together somewhere in the hopes of a nice payout next year. If he is sitting on our bench, the likelihood is he gets another relatively low salary for next year.

He's gong to be inactive most games and he is definitely leaving. Zero problem trading him.

There is a lot to be said for having a starting level backup. How often do your OL play every game in a year, and with Leary as insurance you really aren't losing much if Martin or Collins go down. Yes, he is not as good as either, but he is very solid.

I'd rather keep him. But Jerry is very much about doing the right thing for players. Yes, Leary does have value to us as a backup. However, if things go as planned this season, Leary won't play much if at all. He'd be heading into UDFA having played very little in the last two years. This could mean a lost of millions of dollars for the guy. If we can find a reasonable trade it is the right thing to let him go, start, and potentially have the sort of payday that could put him in a financially secure situation for the rest of his life.

I wouldn't trade him for anything less than an outright 3rd or a 4th + a 5th/6th. He's much more valuable to us for this season than a low round draft pick next year.
