Sometime's you see a team demote a playcaller for someone on staff, but I cant think of a single instance where someone from outside was brought in with an entirely different system during a season.
Gruden offenses over the years:
2008- 19th pts, 14th yds
2007-18th pts, 18th yds
2006-31st pts, 29th yds
2005- 20th pts, 23rd yds
2004- 23rd pts, 22nd yds
2003- 18th pts, 10th yds
2002- 18th pts, 24th yds (won super bowl)
By the way, in the two yrs before Gruden arrived in Tampa, the Bucs finished 15th and 6th in pts scored.
In Oakland, here are Gruden's numbers:
2001- 4th pts, 7th yds
2000- 3rd pts, 6th yds
1999- 8th pts, 5th yds
1998- 22nd pts, 18th yds
Other than a couple of years, there's really not that much to get excited about with him.
I rescind my previous comment about bringing in Gruden as offensive coordinator. Thanks for setting me straight.
