It's an OL coach, not a freakin' Wide Reciever.

I'd rather have a good, PROVEN, coach to develop the PLAYERS instead of "developing" an OL coach.

ugh. and I guess he would bring back the zone blocking schemes. I don't think that would play to Bigg Davis' strengths.

And I'd rather have a guy who is looking to make something of himself rather than a guy who needs to be convinced not to retire.

Generally, I agree, but this guy is an exception.

Why would he do that?

We didn't employ that scheme here with him as OL Coach did we?
I am fairly certain the answer is no but I could be wrong.

Houck coached Larry Allen and Nate Newton who are essentially the same type guy as Leonard Davis, i.e. big and strong, better with their weight under them going forward at a guy then trying to get to spots.

In case this was skipped over in my earlier post:

Here are some excerpts from a phone interview with ‘Hud’ yesterday.

Will you take the last year of your contract and retire?

“I’m not going to retire. I’ll look around for available jobs for an offensive line coach. You can only play golf so many days in a week.”

Wrong guy.

I think Houck got the axe so Coslet could bring in his guy.

Houck's a power running game line coach.

He could probably maximize this line's obvious size advantage.

I'd welcome him back.

Houck and Cameron as replacements for Sparano and Garrett would be very nice.

I was about to say... Did he really have to be convinced not to retire, or was that just a false rumor? He doesn't sound to me like a guy who had to be begged to stay out of the retirement home.

And anyway... If we had an idea of a young, developing OL coach we were pretty sure would be better, I'm sure we'd go for that. Any names for us, abersonc?

Ok,big boy...Throw some names against the wall, and let's see 'em stick. You must have someone in mind, rather than a carte blanche gimme somebody younger.

HH doesn't run a zone blocking scheme.

Generally for assistants, you have to wait and see whose contracts run out. I was pretty surprised to see Solari fired in KC though, they worked hard to keep him around

How can we be thinking of bringing him in to replace Sparano since Miami hasn't even offered him a job yet?

:wink2: :wink2:

I'd love for him to come back and bring Marco Rivera in to learn from him. Couldn't be happier if that happened. The only OL Coach I'd want as much would be Mike Solari.

I don't know what his contract status is, but if I had to pick any OL coach in the league I would take Mike Munchak with the job he did coaching the Titans OL. Their OL was the only thing they had on that offense. They just pushed people around when everyone knew they had no passing game andv they were going to run inside (they didn't even have a speedy back to make you respect running to the perimeter) and they weren't exactly loaded with high draft picks and high salary free agents .... Jacob Bell, Daniel Looper, Eugene Amano? When Michael Roos was drafted they said it would take him 3 years before he would see the field, and Muchack had him playing at a Pro Bowl level by his 2nd. I wonder if he has ties to Wade from the Houston days?

I don't really have a problem with Houck being here. No need to worry about long term assistants, when I have the feeling that our HC position might be completely in flux in the next 24 months.

I wouldn't be shocked if Rivera ended up in Miami or even GB in that role

They needed an interpreter?

Seriously though, if he was down there that might suggest he's a little too buddy buddy with the guys to be their coach.

None of the guys he was with are O-linemen.
