Yeah but the player hates it. He wants the long term deal now. Not put their body at risk another year without it.

tough ****, the franchise amount ain't chicken feed.

If it comes to that, I say suck it up butter cup

My esteemed and trusted sources have confirmed to me that this will end one of two ways:

1. He'll resign.
2. He won't resign.

Take it to the bank.

I have confirmed this by thinking about it

Why do that now?

I think this is just posturing by the front office. Dez wants to stay in Dallas and does not want the franchise tag. My guess (and that is all it is) is that the Joneses intentionally leaked this tidbit to put pressure on Dez's agents. If so, it concerns me that there seems to be poor communication if the media is used to relay negotiating tactics. Something that I wouldn't think twice about seeing from other teams.

I think the tag may be the best thing for now. Another year to prove it on and off the field before dallas dishes out a 100k contract.

Be prepared for drama

Just pay him, Jerry. Ugj

love dez but this offense runs through the running game now. if it gets into distraction, tg him and trade him. There wont be any trouble finding takers. draft picks. Other then today dez has had an average impact on the offense. Its clear this team has switched to a run first team. I say pay him but dont give in and cripple the team. Take into account that over the yrs he has been unavailable in alot of games because of cramping. His drops now. He is very good, but lets not kid ourselves. He runs a vanilla set of routes. Using his physical skills to beat DBs. But we have seen good defenses shut him down with simple double teams. He doesnt grasp a hot route and he rarely adjusts his route when Romo is in trouble. There was a guy who was also like this and teams used him and traded him to gain resources. His name was randy moss.

It's the correct move. Unless you can sign him to a 4-5 year 10-12 million dollar deal.

I'd do that.

Can we do a Co-Franchise tag?

I'd include Murray, too.

I do not want to see him split, either.

Although if had my choice..

we just haven't done well with WRs as far as them living up to big money deals..

TO comes to mind...

as does Galloway and

Roy Williams.

So tying up big bucks on long-term deals with wideouts gives me the Willey's.

And when you trade him and find yourself looking for another legit #1 receiver while defenses are stacking the box against your "run team," what then?

Romo and Witten aren't getting any younger folks. Pay the home grown talent.

Draft picks can be used to draft receivers, go figure.

In which case we trade him get a 1st and 2nd round draft pick and save ourselves a lot of money.

Yup, he still gets his money, and like I said screws us. We should have fun rolling out on Sunday with Williams, Beasley and Harris.
