Sources in Dallas thought the league would decide whether to discipline Gregory last week, before Sunday's regular-season opener against the Carolina Panthers, but the league still is studying the case and factoring in the steps that Gregroy has taken over the past month since his setback.

More and more, in one of the interesting and quiet trends around the league, the NFL has become more tolerant when a player violates the drug policy. It has softened its stance on drug policy perpetrators. There have been multiple examples this offseason of a player having a disputed test, with the league emphasizing treatment and support rather than discipline, which was one of the NFLPA's goals when the policy was reconfigured in 2014.

Gregory just met with the league. If he failed in August then why would they let him play today?

Suspensions are announced and then appealed. They don’t keep it secret while the player appeals. It stays secret while they investigate, then they announce the suspension, and they the player appeals.

I hate twitter. What does any of that mean?
Failed tests are typically leaked (where the rumors come from) and then confirmed by the NFL after appeal.

Here is an example. An article from Mark Ingram's suspension for PEDs earlier this year. The player and certain parties are notified of the failed test and they have a certain amount of time to file an appeal. The league will wait until the appeal is complete before officially announcing the suspension.

Rapoport adds the suspension has hung over Ingram for "several weeks" and the Saints were aware of the situation before the league's annual three-day selection process.

"They did know before the draft," Rapoport said. "They never quite can tell if the player is going to win an appeal or not. He's been battling this for the last several weeks. He found out today he did not win his appeal."

Sorry it’s just hilarious to me to be envious of the Eagles which is a loser organization. I guess our fans don’t care about rivalries though which is why we have no homefield advantage.
A loser organization that just won a SB. You can hate a rival but appreciate what they did.

I could go either way with this. I could see league coming out in support saying even though he had hiccup he has made strides and the league will continue to work with him and I could also see league bans him forever. I think we will get a clearer picture of what league wants to do after game.

Personally I don’t think he failed a test. These reporters would love to report that. I think he may have smoked told his treatment people and the cowboys and then they were upfront with NFL.

He gets drug tested every few days, if he failed a test in August the suspension would have already came down.

Feels like the league is being lobbied by other owners to hand down punishment for his AWOL episode, even if he didn't fail a test.

I hope this isn't true. That it's "click bait." Coming from Schefter, it probably is true. And relapse only means one thing.

We don't get to have nice things.
Gregory hasn't failed no drug test for weed. Could be many things, could be nothing but I'm almost 100 percent sure it isn't weed.

He's officially dead to me. I don't care if he gets 10 sacks today.

I am concerned about this report, if it was about player x, y or z I may take it with a grain of salt but given the track record of Gregory I am very concerned. He can't afford any slip ups. I hope the report is false but if true Dallas needs to move on
