Mike Florio from ProFootballTalk.com discussed the rumors regarding why Dez Bryant has not received a new contract from the Dallas Cowboys.

During his interaction with Shan & RJ, Florio brings up the possibility of a video involving Dez Bryant.

“I don’t know if there’s any video that exists,” says Florio. “I’m just saying there is some chatter out there.”

Terrible journalism.

Didn't Florio also say Rod Marrinelli to the Bucs was a done deal? This guy blows.

I dont really see a problem with what was said. He made it very clear that he doesnt even know if the video is out there but its a commonly discussed issue and the rumor is that one exists. And he said the Cowboys are aware of the rumors.

One thing that stood out to me was that he said the video, if it exists, is old. We'll, I would ask, how old? Is it old enough that even if there was a video it wouldnt be relevant for discipline today?

If there is video that is supposedly KNOWN ABOUT, why would Dallas even be offering the Franchise Tag?

That's what I was thinking. If he's in serious trouble (not saying he is or isn't) the tag doesn't save either party.

cause maybe the video isn't as big a deal as some are making it to be to feed their own fantasies about boredom cures.

This has been said on The Fan as well, which carries the Cowboys games in DFW.

They've intimated that there is something that is troubling the Cowboys in terms of signing Dez long term.

Some say it's his back issues. Others say there are some personal matters looming.

I just appreciate their hesitancy, especially with a franchise tag in their pocket.

I've heard the same.

This has never been straight up a "what is he worth and what will we pay" thing.
They want badly to keep Dez and based on his contributions on the field and as a team mate, they would pay him top dollar.
But they see some risk and exposure on things out of their control. That should be clear by now.

I can't stand rumors though. If there's nothing there then this is doing everyone a disservice.

Also, those saying they wouldn't tag him are missing the point. The tag is just one year of exposure. If this is real (and I really have no idea if it is) it may not come out for another 2-3 years. Someone would have already released it if there was no hesitation.

But it protects the Cowboys. Worst case, Bryant is implicated in something via video, gets suspended by NFL with or without pay and the worst Dallas could be out is one year's salary. But best case, this goes nowhere but with the tag, Dallas has basically kept Bryant from shopping himself to outside teams. That gives the Cowboys another year to further think about long term implications with this guy.

No way they even tag him if this was true. People are just looking for hits on their website cause the deal hasn't been reached

Sorry, I wouldn't spend 13 mil on a player who may not play and I know this ahead of time. I'm not saying there is any thing to this story but I can see
it delaying the signing.

There obviously is something keeping the Cowboys from making a commitment to him on his terms. Florio says theres a video with impact he doesnt say he's beating a woman. But like some have said in here the fan has mentioned this too. And id be interested to hear what fisher has to say about this.

It's a calculated risk. What if the Cowboys balk at tagging him, this ends up being no big deal in the NFL eyes, and now you have a bitter player who thinks the org turned their back on him?

Unless you have stone cold, dead to rights proof and know for certain he's going to get suspended, you have to tag him IMO.

I completely agree that something is giving the Cowboys pause on signing him long term. But IMO, the tag is a smart way to protect yourself in a situation where there's a lot of unknowns surrounding this.

I doubt there would be any thing the Cowboys don't know. I also doubt if there was something, they wouldn't have a more than pretty good idea of where it will take Dez. It's weird that's for sure. I just think this is still both sides posturing, and the media is as bored as we are.

The Fan mentioned it because Florio was on the fan talking about it. He's on the Shawn and RJ show like every week. so it's one in the same.

i don't give a flying pigs intestine how bored the media is. their job is to report news not make crap up in a LOOK AT ME fashion.

sick and tired of the drama the media creates and the insane desire far too many people have to get sucked in by it time and time and time again.
