Rumor: Video of Dez w/ 'Ray Rice' type of impact may exist

On a totally random front..........

Let's say you tagged Dez. Something comes out and he gets suspended for 8 games or the season without pay. Would that count against the cap? It would be guaranteed money per tag rules but if a player violates a conduct policy, can a team recoup that cap space used if they aren't required to pay the player?

So let me get this straight, Dallas is willing to garantee at least $13 million to Dez, but they are hesitant to pay him long term, because of a rumor???? :rolleyes: If there was 'chatter' why offer him and substational money, that don't makes sense. Dallas is being careful handing out large contracts, they are finally showing finicial responsibility, that's all this is.
 
This is why I rarely listen to The Fan, especially in the off season.
Which I haven't listened to The Fan or The Ticket since the loss to GB.
I will later on when the draft nears, I'll listen to Norm. Probably as FA period nears.

People will have their opinions either way, and chose to believe this stuff or not, or in between. I'll just wait it out, and won't comment. As if defending a player or not, and their off the field actions, isn't always productive at times....:laugh:
 
The fan just clarrified, and said what Florio is talking about is that said video was from his first 2 1/2yrs in the league. That people just dont really know how wild he was. They are saying, would not be suprise if there is a tape of something on Dez.

Personally, I think the team is constantly concerned about what Dez might do in the future. He is a great teammate, and an awesome player, but he is also highly temperamental and is around a lot of not-so-great people. He's grown as a person, but he's hardly out of the woods.

If they are especially worried about him keeping out of trouble long term, you can understand their reluctance to pay him long term.

If that's the case, franchise him this year and next, and don't take that risk.
 
I still think the primary reason that Dez isn't signed yet is that neither side has a real incentive to get it done just yet. There's not a real reason for either side to back off of its current demands. Dez will get tagged and we will likely see them agree to something close to the deadline from the franchise tag.

They want badly to keep Dez and based on his contributions on the field and as a team mate, they would pay him top dollar.
But they see some risk and exposure on things out of their control. That should be clear by now.

I can't stand rumors though. If there's nothing there then this is doing everyone a disservice.

Also, those saying they wouldn't tag him are missing the point. The tag is just one year of exposure. If this is real (and I really have no idea if it is) it may not come out for another 2-3 years. Someone would have already released it if there was no hesitation.

Again then why tag him at all? 2-3-5 years,, if they had reservations why commit $13 million for one year garanteed they could be used to help build the rest of the team. And if they tag him two years In a row now we talking $26 or more million garanteed.
 
Mike Florio is such a piece of ****. I have never like the guy and the platform he is given on NBC makes me sick. The guy is a complete hack.

I also think the Florio's and Rappaport's of the world are just reaching. The contract negotiations have more to do wit the Cowboys situation of trying to keep Murray and Dez and some other players and the best way to go about and not all of those sideshow stuff that people like Florio think it is.
 
What a cruel rumor. Doesn't even say what the video is! Imagine if you are Dez - we've all got a moment we'd hate to have on video.
