Rumor: Video of Dez w/ 'Ray Rice' type of impact may exist

I've heard the same.

This has never been straight up a "what is he worth and what will we pay" thing.
They want badly to keep Dez and based on his contributions on the field and as a team mate, they would pay him top dollar.
But they see some risk and exposure on things out of their control. That should be clear by now.

I can't stand rumors though. If there's nothing there then this is doing everyone a disservice.

Also, those saying they wouldn't tag him are missing the point. The tag is just one year of exposure. If this is real (and I really have no idea if it is) it may not come out for another 2-3 years. Someone would have already released it if there was no hesitation.

There is nothing clear about any of what you said. And nothing has to be "wrong" for there to be no deal at this point. There are many big name players not yet signed. Are all their teams afraid of some nefarious subsurface issue?

Is D. Thomas really a dirtbag and we don't know about it? Does Cobb secretly hate cheese and so the Packers are holding back?

Or maybe this just business as usual in the NFL?

Not if it's true.

Even if it isn't true, proving libel is one of the most difficult things to do in a court of law. In order for libel to be proved, the following has to apply:

• The allegation/story has to be false.
• The person making the allegation or filing the story has to know that it was false, but did it anyway.
• The person making the false allegation has to be proven to be doing this with malice of forethought, or, in other words, intending to cause damage to the person whom is being falsely accused.

It is one of the most difficult things to prove out in court. Sometimes something isn't libel - it's just poor reporting.

No one here is equipped to comment whether this is true or not, as we do not have enough information to make an assessment one way or another.

Mike Wallace got $27M GUARANTEED - THAT is what the hold up is for Dez's deal - NO ONE can convince me that Dez shouldn't be getting a hell of a lot more guaranteed than Mike Wallace. The ONLY contract with more GUARANTEED $$$$ - CJ's. And, that's what I'm not understanding - the CAP figure and the guarantee issue. Dallas can sign both Dez and Demarco if they just guarantee MOST of their contracts. If they do that, they can give both of them VERY cap friendly deals. I'm betting Dez would take a deal like 6/$78M with $35M GUARANTEED. He didn't take the supposedly offered 10/$114M because there was only like 10-15% guaranteed $$$. Same with Murray. I have seen so many writers suggest a deal for 4 years at around $6-7M with around $18-20 guaranteed. Barring somebody rolling out the Brink's Truck, I can those types of deals being accepted because of the guarantees.

Mike Florio from ProFootballTalk.com discussed the rumors regarding why Dez Bryant has not received a new contract from the Dallas Cowboys.

During his interaction with Shan & RJ, Florio brings up the possibility of a video involving Dez Bryant.

Isn't this the guy that reported that Marinelli was headed to Tampa, then a few days later Marinelli signed a new contract to stay in Dallas?

If there was hard evidence of something like this, then the representatives for Dez would encourage him to have signed a reasonable contract already.

Listen, I've never been big on JG and God knows Jerry has felt my wrath the last 18 years but I like what I'm seeing from Jerry, Stephen and JG lately. Yeah it would be great to keep Dez and Murray but at the same time, what's the rush? They are doing their due diligence vs in the past throwing money that straps us for the future. I think both players are studs at times but with Murray having only one full season and all his carries and Dez having some past issues, I'm glad that we are being patient. The reality is that Dez is a like time bomb at times so length of contract, guaranteed money, etc has to be worry. I don't mind the franchise tag.
