I don't get it either. Those who don't like him just see him as topping out as a marginal starter at best from what I can tell.

That's kinda what I always felt but im surprised the NFL has shunned him like they have.

Everyone wants Wentz :(.

And with 3 interceptions in his college career.

I hope we are not that insane.

Nor that desperate.

We couldn't be.

QB is the only player worth making that move up for in any draft unless you identify a once in a lifetime player like Adrian Peterson or something.

Ramsey might be the best player in this draft but he is not worth giving up the farm for.

Wentz is though. Because of the position he plays and the fact he checks every box.

If I was a Tennessee fan and I read we were considering trading down "to take pressure off the GM" I would start cutting.

The Cowboys are one of four teams that have inquired on moving up to the top spot of the draft. The other three teams are thePhiladelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers and the New York Jets, who are the dark horse.
Wait. There are 27 teams that haven't inquired about moving up to the top of the draft?

I am certain of it. It is silly to think teams picking at the bottom have any interest whatsoever in trading away 3 drafts or more for one player. Most teams don't have the resources or the interest. Many teams around the league rarely trade up regardless. There is a lot of value in staying out and using your draft picks without getting too creative.

Of course most teams aren't interested in actually trading for it, but I would expect everyone wants to have as complete a picture as possible about the trade market. If I'm a GM, I'm talking to every other GM about the draft and how they might value their picks. And heck, if I'm sitting at 25, I'm definitely picking up the phone anyway to chat with them about pick 32. Why would a team not ask them about the first pick?

Just imagine Risen's reaction

Trade up to 1, pick of the litter, and we pick a DB without a set position.

I can see it now: he might overreact with a criticism of Jerry Jones and company. Perhaps with a bit of calculated snark.

That's what I see in my head, anyway. I'm not sure anybody can really say what he might do.

Luckily we have Romo, so the idea of trading up is pretty dumb. Why mortgage the draft for a future QB if you weaken the team that he will be taking over?

I'd trade to 3 and lose one pick. Not trading to 1 and losing multiple.

Do you really think Romo will be as functional @ age 39?

I like Goff too but see Wentz as the top QB over 10 years cuz of that rocket of an arm; his height and athleticism don't hurt either.:D Goff had an average line @ Cal so he's athletic too tbh (maybe more so). I think comparing Wentz to Flacco in athleticism is such a disservice to him (some article posted here a day or two ago). Wouldn't fault the team for either choice just for the mere fact that they are indeed looking towards the future with QB in RD 1 talk. Baby steps are good too;)
