Run Dak, Run!

I was assuming since this was kind of a must win that Dak would be running and keeping more read option stuff.

Getting rid Of JG and SL needs to done as a pacakage...

If we just hired a new OC and used his playbook ... JG would be confused, his first question would “why more than 2 pages in your playbook? I get by with 1/2 page” .

I agree but I missed the first 15 minutes of this game. My wife was watching the Voice which shows you how we are losing interest in the Jonesboys. However, after seeing this, I now now why Collins is not focused and the Cowboys lose. Our imbecile coaches do not reward their OL. After a successful screen with the ball at the 4 yard line they run a wired design outside pitch to Zeke instead of bringing the FB in and slamming it on the right side of the OL. Then the next play they line up in the I and call a dumb pass play. That is an imbecile that makes play calls like that with a run blocking OL, a FB, and a top leading rusher in the NFL. That makes your OL lose focus. Two straight dive running plays get you at least a FG.

That play is not Dak Prescott fault. The Titans knew on 2nd down after that pitch out the Cowboy were going to throw. Just like everyone knows that Dallas rarely gives the ball to Zeke after a stop or lost of yardage. It was only 2nd and goal from the 6 yard line. You don't trust the right side of that OL (Martin and Collins) to move the ball 3-4 yards? The word is play action. You can use play action when you show you are not playing by running the ball.

I am glad I did not see that in real time or I would have had a stroke yelling at the T.V. God loves me.

This staff rarely uses play action and its baffling. Witten was all over it last night.

He’s not good in the pocket,...I don’t know why they keep sticking with this? My gosh,he’ll stand there with a huge gap in front of him,and wind up throwing to nowhere or getting sacked. I’d really like to know just what they’ve been doing for 2 weeks before this game?

Well, rumor is that Garret and Brad Paisley are working on a duet that involves a guitar and lots of clapping. :lmao:

The guy runs for 80 yards against j-ville and tears them up.........and then nothing.... Dak is not a pocket passer and whoever is trying to make him one is a moron and needs to go. I'm not saying Dak is my ideal franchise QB but as long as he is in the game, he needs to do what he does best.............which is not taking 5 and 7 step drops. He needs to roll out away from pressure and take off when he has green in front of him. No reason we should lose games like last night.

That would probably be a combination of Garrett and Linehan. They are forcing Dak to play a style of QB that doesn't fit him. They think this is still the 90s. Dak's not a 90s offencive player, nor is he a pocket passer. Norv Turner would be a better HC than Garrett just by virtue of how he's adjusted his offence for Cam Newton.

In fact, if I may divert very quickly, might I make a case for Norv Turner? I was a baby when we had Norv in the playoffs (I was born in December 1992), so I never got to see him live as the Cowboys OC. However, how much difference was there in the offence efficiency from when he was the OC to when he wasn't here? Maybe he's not a great HC, but I'd love to see us get Jim Schwartz or some defencive chap to play to the current strength of the team and see if he can sway Turner into returning here as OC. Or, if we can't, I'd be intrigued by giving him a go as HC here.

We lost games like last night because the entire team from top to bottom was horrid.

-Coaching, scheme, was terrible, play calling horrid as you mentioned
-Kicker missed a chip shot
-Prescott pick, fumble, blows an easy TD throw, generally not sharp
-Zeke blowing blocking assignments, another down game
-Oline horrid in both run and pass blocking
-Defense giving up long drives and 3rd downs at an alarming rate.

It was truly a group effort.

We basically need a HC that can groom a QB whether that be Dak or Mike White or a future draft pick. Norv will never work in Dallas b/c he was part of Jimmy's gang that showed Jerry no respect and mocked his football acumen............... though it turns out they were completely justified.

Garrettball. If something works, stop doing it.

"Next man up" means "I treat players like interchangeable cogs in my beautiful system".

I'm not even asking for designed runs for dak. When things break down and he can't find anyone open, just tuck it and run. He might not get 80 a game but he can certainly pick up more first downs.

HC doesn't need to groom a QB himself. He can hire a QB coach for that. He just needs to know that a QB needs to be developed, and be serious about having someone get it done.

"Next man up" is an announcement that you feel no responsibility for that. So was promoting Moore to QB coach.

If you wanted to sabotage Dak's career with the Cowboys, you'd
1) Make him be a pocket passer
2) Give him a crappy OC
3) Give him a crappy QB coach
4) Screw up your backup LT, and when his failure leads to the QB getting pounded, let it continue all game

The irony is that if just looked at Dak's stats, he put up good number. 21-31 243 2TD's 1 INT. Granted he picked up a huge chunk off it on that last fruitless drive against a prevent D, but folks will keep pointing to stats and comparing him to Romo like they are equivalent QBs.

Should help marginally, but you can't make the most of a running QB without calling plays suited for one.

At this point, Dak should go rogue: go hurry up to not allow package changes, and call his own plays. Our coaching is screwing his career. He shouldn't go along with it. Make it clear that he won't be playing what Linehan calls.

I think If Dak went rogue, there is absolutely nothing Garret could do about it aside from lecture him..........

The boss men are weak. It would be very interesting for Dak to go to Jerry with a belief that the coaches blow and don't allow him or the rest of the offense to succeed.

LOL......we win Dak's the man....We lose its a group Loss and fire every one of our coaches.....Dakzoids there is no cure no matter how many embarrassments the Star experiences....

Very well. I wonder if there's someone on the Reid or Pederman coaching squads that know how to use that style of QB. I think that could work.

We haven't seen an RPO since Jax game. Even Booger freaking McFarland was telling everybody how predictable our offense was, "there's another first down run". He said that Ten wasn't threatened by the pass game at all. We saw one play action last night. I do not understand why Linehan keeps calling slow developing routes, 5-7 step drops, etc when our QB has no internal clock/pocket awareness, our oline can't block for longer then 3 seconds and our WR's can't get open. Linehan should have been escorted out of the building last night, never to return. And Dak shouldn't be far behind him. But I think JJ will keep Garrett and bring in a new, creative play caller to give Dak a final shot next season.

They've un rpos, you still have o be accurate to hi them.

That's on the qb,
