wait a minute, I've read here that a reliable vet doesn't lose his job due to injury. So McFadden should just walk into his RB slot and put Zeke on the bench.

McFadden didn't lose his job to injury though. He got hurt fighting for a backup role with Morris.

I do not see the Cowboys being able to keep 5 backs (Elliott, Morris, Dunbar, McFadden and the Rookie) plus two fullbacks. I guess never say never, but I just don't see it happening.

They will have to "move" one of them by trade or cut, or leave McFadden on the NFI football list as insurance.

I don't think they will activate McFadden unless they have a trade for one of the running backs in the works, because it makes no sense to activate him just to cut someone, when no one is carrying the ball right now other than Elliott and Morris. I guess the exception to that rule is if the team views McFadden as the clear number two back over Morris, that might not hold true.

The Cowboys might be willing to let go any of the backs other than Elliott for appropriate compensation.

Time to really get this party started..
play action to EE ....no one open ...swing pass to Darren in the flat...71 yard touchdown..
He's ready to go huh...

I'm glad his bags are packed. Perhaps some dummy out there will give us a DL for him.

If need be, he can have Dunbar's roster spot. He's obviously not using it - again!

Yeah, I see no room on roster for Dmac. He doesn't play special teams, and Morris is younger and a better alternative to EE. And the fullback Smith has actually been making a difference this year. Trade bait I'm guessing
Morris doesn't play special teams either. I like Morris (class act-team guy) but his skill set is limited. I can't see how they activate both the same week. I'm thinking alternate weeks depending on best fit against the defense we're facing.
But can they afford another roster spot?Neither one not contributing to STeams is a problem.
Dunbar at least he's a returner.
I'm intrigue with the home run threat DMC gives us.

Dunbar has more quicks than DMac. He can do things DMac can't and vice versa. They are not the same kind of back. Dunbar is able to line up outside and I don't remember DMac do doing that. He is not a receiver.

He played Dunbar's role as a receiver last season once Dunbar went down for a game or two and did just fine.

I just don't think Dunbar does much for this team. He doesn't get many targets anymore and McFadden can just add more to the team.

Could they possibly trade DMC? Or hang onto him for depth? I say they keep him for depth...

Can DMC return kicks?

I think you field offers for all 3 RBs (Morris, DMC, Dunbar) and decide which one goes depending on what we're offered.

Eh I appreciate what he did last year, but EE doesn't need his touches reduced. Morris is the better mentor and a steady back and Dunbar plays ST and mostly a receiving back who is much quicker.

Don't see where DMac fits in.
Yes he does. No reason to be giving the kid 28-30 carries a game.

I don't see where Dunbar is a "returner". He hasn't returned anything since his last injury last season. And overall, he hasn't done anything of note in the four out of six games where he actually did play. And now, once again, he's in his most prominent role - injured.

And, as usual, he's injured and missing time. How anyone can continue to gloss over the fact that he does very little and is always hurt is beyond me. It just simply can't be ignored any longer.

Exactly. He's on pace for 365 carries and 395 touches. That number will probably go up once he gets more involved with the pass game. That's far too many to put on his body.

McFadden was 4th in the NFL in rushing last year. Let's get him in there to back up Zeke and get rid of the current drop-off in overall capabilities we have using Morris in that role. McFadden must be wondering what it takes to get a little love around here...:)

I have not seen the so called drop off. Morris is quite productive

I just read that Lacey may be out for "a while". This may be the perfect opportunity to unload him to a desperate team.
