How much cap space do they have scheduled for next offseason?

How much would they have if they rolled over this year's space and cut Cliff Avril if he has another down year?

Seems like they overpaid to me, he isnt worth Aaron Rodgers money.

russell led his team to 2 SB's in a row , arron has only been to 1.
Russell beat arron twice last year lol
so how is arron better?? stats? I will take wins over stats any day.

Just imagine the salary cap problems that team is going to have in a couple of years.

They wont have problems, they front loaded it with signing bonus of 20 mil and another 11 mil in april.
that leaves these current cap #'s
2015$700K$6.9M
201612.3M18.5M
201712.6M18.8M
201815.5M21.7M
201917.0M23.2M
first is actual salary, 2nd is cap hit. they can adjust that with more bonus later on to resign others.

They were at 19m under for 2016 before the Wagner signing.

They will have some tough choices to make next year with that secondary, RWilson and MLynch.

It doesn't look like they will have any roll over this year, but they will save 5m if they cut Avril next year. 6m salary with 1.5m dead.

What many dont get is the team see's russell as their leader,. and a guy who can win games, make big plays.
it makes them play harder or better, it is chemistry, like what dallas had going last year.
People say if he didnt have the run game or the defense, but lol he does have that !!

I have to point out that in first year in playoffs they lost , not due to wilson but due to lynch fumbling 2 times, and the defense letting
atlanta drive for game winning FG, not to mention scoring too many points. wilson did his part that year but the defense and run game did not.

Wilson is one of the smartest nfl QB's, he has a engineering degree, or maybe 2 degrees.
He runs a lot and is effective, but smart enough to avoid big hits. He is a good leader, and his passing is at times as great as any QB.
He has a great touch pass.
He never gives up and has led some amazing comebacks.

Russell was not supposed to even start his first year, but carroll saw something he liked enough , to start wilson over the higher paid projected starter.
The team has done nothing but win since wilson started. It cant be coincidence,

Right now I would say favorites to win NFC this year are:
1.Seattle
2.GB
3.Dallas
4.Arizona or some newcomer

I also think if Russell retired right now, seattle would not go to SB or even be in NFC champ game

Cam's had alot less to work with and has had to carry offenses on his back. The results have been somewhat checkered, but he has done alot better then I belive Wilson could have done

actually he had a great defense in 2013 and a decent offense, and still lost, he is not as smart as wilson is nor as good at running, or leading a team.
So far all cam has shown is he is a loser lol I doubt he ever gets to NFC title game much less a SB.

Whether you think he's a bus driver or the best QB in the league, it's a great day for the rest of the league because The Seahawks now have to pay their QB a bazillion dollars like the rest of the contenders. Paying him peanuts was a huge part of their winning formula, and we have already seen the effects of them making room for this deal.

like bk said this was a smart deal , signing him early and front loading it, keeps it from being the bad effect it is on other teams.
Getting him so cheap for several years did help them build a good team though.
It is hard to keep any SB team together, and so far they are doing a good job.

Lynch didn't fumble. That was his OL.

wow talk about rose colored glasses. Bottom line is that he threw the pass that lost the Seahags a SB.
He does not have that great a touch pass; and he does not read D's that well. Don't know why you think he is all that. Bottom line is that he has never had to really perform for them to win.. Great D and top Running game has done most of it. He is not even frankly a top 10 QB yet. Because he has not had to really do that much. Maybe he can be. BUT nothing says he has yet.
By the way this BS about him being smart. Andre Gurode was a top academic performer in College too. But he was at best average in FOOTBALL SMARTS. Somehow you seem to confuse the two.

an epic thread a few weeks ago had one of our resident idiots blaming the Murray fumble on Martin because he did not pancake Peppers.

Martin completely whiffed on Peppers. He went for the pancake and ended up with air.

You guys refusing to lay any of the blame on Martin is what is idiotic.

Bringing it up in a thread about RWilson borders on psychotic.

Eh, the guy who posted it and thinks that Wilson > Rodgers, lol, blamed Lynch's fumbles for Seattle losing but fails to do the same thing to the Eagle.

Yeah I get that part of it is silly. Even in the last SB RWilson had a terrible first half until the last 30 secs and he really struggled against GB in the NFCCG until he led to a miracle comeback.

But he is a dynamic athlete that has also done some amazing things and shows the poise and leadership needed to be an all-timer. The contract extension was a no-brainer and the cost of doing business. Everyone talks up Luck, but he has also struggled in big games. But no one has problem giving him 22m+.

The stuff about Murray is a personal pet peeve.

I like Wilson. I consider him a top 7 or 8 QB currently in the league.

But Aaron Rodgers is the #1 guy in the league right now. The guy has a 5.5-to-1 TD/INT ratio over the past 4 years. His numbers are nothing short of incredible. Wilson plays on a team with a historically great defense, which helps his team get wins.
