Russell Wilson gets paid - 2nd highest paid quarterback

Yeah I get that part of it is silly. Even in the last SB RWilson had a terrible first half until the last 30 secs and he really struggled against GB in the NFCCG until he led to a miracle comeback.

But he is a dynamic athlete that has also done some amazing things and shows the poise and leadership needed to be an all-timer. The contract extension was a no-brainer and the cost of doing business. Everyone talks up Luck, but he has also struggled in big games. But no one has problem giving him 22m+.

The stuff about Murray is a personal pet peeve.

I think Russell is great at what he does, but he's not in the same ballpark as Rodgers. And I agree he was always going to get paid.

Eh, the guy who posted it and thinks that Wilson > Rodgers, lol, blamed Lynch's fumbles for Seattle losing but fails to do the same thing to the Eagle.

you like the reword and add to things I say and then say I said that ?? how about using actual quotes?
I never said wilson was a better QB than arron although he did play beat arron twice in same year and in first game wilson clearly played better than arron.
Green Bay Packers l Att l Cmp l Yds l YPA l TD I int l Lg l Sack l Loss l Rate
Aaron Rodgers33...23....189...5.7...1...1...23....3....14....81.5
Seattle Seahawks...Att...Cmp...Yds...YPA...TD...Int...Lg...Sack...Loss...Rate
Russell Wilson28...19....191...6.8...2...0...33t...10...110.9
In playoff game both had bad ratings of A.55 and R..44 The first 3 qtrs arron was better but the 4th was Wilson and that won the game.

LYnch fumbling certainly did not help his team, and were "part" of why they lost to atlanta. you didnt mention what I said about their defense?
The "eagle" I guess refers to murray and shows your clear bias/hatred there , and again I never said murray was not to blame for his fumble
or that that was not part of why dallas lost. I did say that wasnt the only reason they lost.

an epic thread a few weeks ago had one of our resident idiots blaming the Murray fumble on Martin because he did not pancake Peppers.

can you quote that? is it ok here to call people idiots?
you guys read something and it rattles around in your head and becomes something else lol
I never said any of that.

here is another fact, arron rodgers has never beat a wilson led seattle team, he has lost all 3 times he played wilson.
I dont know of another qb that has done that.

It was a while back.
Basically the nitwit claimed that since Martin did not take Peppers into the stands the fumble was at least partially his fault. Now anyone with any kind of football IQ understands that Murray fumbled because he did not secure the ball and peppers was able to swat it out. Despite being taken out of any possibility of making a tackle or doing anything really to hinder the run. I guess he thinks that you have to pancake someone or anything else is not acceptable.

I saw how good Wilson looked early-mid last year when the defense wasn't healthy nor playing well which to say was quite average at best. If the guy went to a team that didn't have that defense/run game his name would be followed with the terms "bum" or "bust".

They were at 19m under for 2016 before the Wagner signing.

They will have some tough choices to make next year with that secondary, RWilson and MLynch.

It doesn't look like they will have any roll over this year, but they will save 5m if they cut Avril next year. 6m salary with 1.5m dead.

But $19M under with Wilson's contract accounted for, correct?

People have been claiming Seattle was going to crumble starting some time around now for a few years because Sherman, Thomas, Chancellor, and - most commonly mentioned - Wilson were all playing on cheap deals. Here we are a couple years later, they've signed all of them, and even with a good-sized cap hit of $18.5M for 2016 the team is still sitting at $19M under before Wagner. They save $5M if they cut Avril, and barring an amazing revitalization to his career I would expect them to. So even if Wagner counted for $12M against the cap in 2016, they're still $12M under and it could possibly be more depending on if they do have anything to roll over. Spotrac has them at $7M under right now. Wagner's details apparently aren't out yet but they'll use this year (the last year of his previous deal) to absorb some of the SB. Maybe $10M in SB, so $2M in cap space eaten this year. $5M left. Kick up his base another $2M and the team carries $3M into next year. So they'd be at $15M under next year.

If they're really hard-up for cash they have an ace in the hole with Jimmy Graham's contract because New Orleans ate the SB when they traded him. He has nothing in terms of dead money potential after this year. Depending on if you look at Spotrac or OTC how he is paid varies, but the team could easily restructure about $5M in space (more if they added years) to 2017 and 2018 when they have even more cap space. Even with Avril on the roster they're at $35M in free space in 2017, but if you cut Avril after 2015 and cut Lynch after 2016 (frees up $11M) then they have $54M in free cap space for 2017. More realistically, $42M if Wagner has a $12M cap figure in 2017.

The only real monster contract on the horizon is Russell Okung and I think it's pretty hard to imagine a scenario where they don't have the cap space to make it happen.

You ask me, they have no tough choices. The entire secondary is under contract through 2017 and there's no reason to think they'll do anything with Russell Wilson's contract or with Lynch's (unless he falls off the face of the planet) contract because they have cap space. Anything they did do to Lynch would only serve to free up cap space. They cut Avril next year, cut Lynch when he's 31, sign Okung along the way and they're still probably $30M under for 2017.

It's hard to imagine a scenario where the predicted downfall occurs. They appear to know what they're doing.

russell led his team to 2 SB's in a row , arron has only been to 1.
Russell beat arron twice last year lol
so how is arron better?? stats? I will take wins over stats any day.

All else being equal, QB stats will prevail on any day. Perhaps if one guy can dramatically outproduce the other and lose more often (and the majority of the rest of the league), maybe we shouldn't attribute a team's success solely to its QB.

SEA does have 30+ FAs coming up in 2016 so they will have to decide who to keep. Some top guys are Okung, Mebane, Kearse and Irvin.

They are very very top heavy, paying their superstars and counting on great scouting and drafting for depth.

They seem to prefer the 4 year deal with more turnover and like your method of staying away from restructures.

It will be interesting to see how it turns out. Right now they have a very cheap OL and WR.

Well we shouldnt, but the QB usually gets the blame or the accolades.
plus what I see here lately is Murray wasnt a good back, it was the OL, and dez and Romo why we went 12-4.
A now with wilson they are saying he is bus driver, and it is his defense carrying him.
With both players they say they are not worth the money they got.

The QB with the biggest ? In front of his name is Kap.

I'd take Russell every day of the week over him.

I HATE the Seahawks but he's huge for that team.

I like Wilson too.

All the talk that he would not be able to win without Lynch or that defense is just speculation. He's done his part to contribute to winning and he's done it without much as far as receiving threats go. Give him a better wr core and a lesser defense and i think the seahawks would still win a lot of games with him at QB.

He's not a great QB but they call plays to his strengths & they just win.

I think Tony is 100x's the QB Wilson is....but Wilson is really good. Particularly when he's running.

Difference between wilson or romo/rodgers/brady, when Wilson's legs go so so does his one trick. When he becomes a pocket passer teams will play coverage on him and I do not think he has those skills.

Well bottom line is he got paid and is happy with it, and now lets see if they keep winning the NFC.
They have been NFC champs last 2 seasons in a row.
Their 2nd game is with GB in GB that should be good.
Then week 8 here in Arlington.

I said the same thing about RGknee. Boom.

That interception at the goal line giving the game away in the super bowl really paid off.
