basically. That was not a precedent setting deal

You're probably right but from my understanding, it's exactly what's holding up a Raven-Lamar Jackson deal. He wants his entire deal guaranteed...

Yep and the Ravens won’t budge. Push comes to shove they would trade him to a perennial loser who would pay that deal out of desperation and get a haul for it but no one is paying fully guaranteed.

I know this is inconceivable, but every day the Browns look worse and worse from a team management perspective. Surely Jerry is plotting, though.

Which is also why he has no deal

Not even close to the guaranteed money Watson got (230 million).

There's no way, as a successful QB, would I accept less guaranteed money than Watson.

Deshaun Watson was effectively a free agent. He had teams in a bidding war over him. Same thing happened to Kirk Cousins everyone forgets, he got the entire contract fully guaranteed and it had no change on the market.

QBs don’t normally have that leverage those two did. No one will get that type of deal

Watson looks like the kind of player that drops off substantially once his joints get the RG III treatment. If I'm the Ravens I franchise him for 2 years and then see if he's still running a 4.3. He doesn't look like the guy who will ever beat you from the pocket.

You don't think Jackson would have a bidding war should they not be able to make a deal? They will do what they have to do to keep him.

He has no leverage unless he demands a trade. He has his fifth rookie year and multiple franchise tags coming up. 3 years after Watson and no one else getting that level of guarantees will kill his position.

And at that point he’ll have lost so much money that it wouldn’t be worth waiting out. If he signed an extension today, 3 years from now he’d be up for a second one.
