or you have a 100% chance of having a "good shot". how do we define good shot?

isn't that like saying you have a 100% chance of a 65% chance of getting the job? where 65% is a pure guess.

not trying to knock @Hawkeye0202, it's just one of those things that struck me odd \ funny this morning.
It's odd semantics. There is a 100% chance of nothing being 100%...

But he doesn't have 100% chance in Chicago.
They are very interested in Mike Vrabel and Ben Johnson.
Its' pretty likely they hire a guy by the 14th.
At best he has a 50-60% chance in Chicago come the 14th.
lol
no, you're misreading what he says...he 100% has A chance

I'm not even as much blaming the OP as the tweet itself is written in an exaggerated way

I think MM would love to go elsewhere but First & Foremost Job Security Comes First For Him and His Family and Jerry would give Him That..Maybe thats why MM Hasn't Bolted Away By Now
All NFL head coach contracts are fully guaranteed. How much more security is there than you’re fired, but still on the payroll?

In defense of the Cowboys job you don’t have to worry about some owner or general manager firing you because you lose a close game because of clock mismanagement or a player screws up at the end of the game. 99% of the other owners would have fired McCarthy after that Packers playoff loss. Most of the local media had McCarthy fired if the Cowboys don’t make the NFC championship game. Now he is negotiating a new contract.

Sort of. Expectations are certainly higher here than in Chicago. 11 wins and a round 1 playoff loss in Dallas next year doesnt do much for McCarthys reputation around Dallas. 11 wins and a playoff loss in Chicago and they may name a street after him.
I agree to a point...they are a once proud franchise that has become a perennial disappointment. Then again, they've been to two NFC title games since we last made one, and they won one of those.

I read they want someone who can develop Caleb, and also fine with current GM and the people above GM.
They have 14 guys they are going to interview, not 1-3 like jerry does lol.
Mike wants to stay here and be a good puppet, just wants more $ lol. It is easy and no big demands.

BB isnt leaving UNC. He is out recruiting. NFL had last year to hire him and only 1 team interviewed him, so
No way is he leaving his new job to come back to NFL.

Agree with your point, but this is the issue with the Jerry marketing effect. A superbowl isnt a realistic expectation for this franchise without some serious roster overhaul, but Jerry always finds a way to get into the conversation every summer. Even this past offseason they did nothing to indicate they were serious about contending, but how many people had the talking point of MM needs to at least get to the NFCC to save his job? There are a lot of perks to being HC of the Dallas Cowboys, but Jerry certainly sets these guys up to be fall guys to the fans as well...more so than the rest of the league does.

When your owner is just fine with winning 4 wild card playoff games in three decades, wasting a whole decade with Jason Garrett, winning 1 wild card game in Big Mac’s five years here (so far)…it shouldn’t surprise us what his comfort looks like.

I guess what I’m saying is if this owner is interested in keeping things the same with almost nothing to show for it, there cannot be much hope for a brighter future. Hope I’m wrong.
The biggest heist in the history of American sports. I don't think people realize little success we've had with Jerry running the show. I do not give Jerry the GM any credit for the 3 Super Bowls Jerry the owner won. So if we evaluate Jerry based on AFTER Jimmy Johnsons influence (players he drafted/coached, culture he established, coaches he groomed) left the building...Jerry has done virtually nothing other than make a lot of money.

And the fact that he has not done much on the field while breaking the bank would be a topic I would love to cover if I were in grad school. 6 Playoff wins since 1995. I feel like I should repeat it. 6 playoff wins since 1995. I don't expect to win and/or compete for the Super Bowl every year. What I expect is for the team to be run like a PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL OPERATION. If that is done, you eventually win and/or get close. And if you don't, you try something/someone else. That is my biggest gripe. We have NOT really tried something/someone else...and when we did....Bill Parcells...Jerry ADMITTED he was miserable and not having any fun just being the owner. Ironically, much like Jimmy...Bills influence is the biggest reason our last best chance was the 2007 team, even though Bill was no longer the head coach. And as soon as Bills influence was completely gone.....you get what we've gotten.

All this is evidence....if you still needed it....that a breakthrough with the Jones Boys running the show is not going to happen. This year was the LEAST amount of football I have watched in the last 30 years. I did not watch all the Cowboys games...and I did not watch any other games. In my world, the state of the Cowboys is BAD for NFL business.

I wish there was something we could do to impact how this organization is run. Jerry has done a MASTERFUL job of insulating himself from the ire of REAL Cowboys fans. He makes money from those that LOVE the Boyz....AND.....AND....he makes almost as much from those that HATE the Boyz! Which means he has ALL of his bases covered....which is why HE ALWAYS wins, regardless of what the scoreboard says!!!!!!!!!!! Take a bow Jerry. Well done. Well done.

ROFL, Rappoport is saying the deal with Mike is basically done in Dallas, they are just arguing over length of contract.
Have a very hard time seeing any logic in this report when they are actively interviewing other guys.
Does Chicago want to wait on MM to see if Jerry closes the deal? With Pete Carroll in hand? Seems unlikely.
I don't think they are arguing unless there was a food fight. They are negotiating.

They can't stop Mike from talking to the Bears, forever, and seeing how little Jerry operates could be a factor his mindset. Of course, that leaves the Cowboys without a preferred choice as usual, again.

I don't think they are arguing unless there was a food fight. They are negotiating.
A contract or any legally binding negotiation is just two sides making arguments.
Same as in a court case.
Mike's agent will argue why he requires 4 years, and Jerry will argue why he is offering only 2.
Guess is they settle in middle on 3.
If either side fails to present an argument; then it isn't a negotiation.
