Ryan Flournoy appreciation thread

ok, so who does that leave us in a few weeks? Lamb, Pickens, Turpin, Flournoy???? Mongo? Turpin? I really want to see Mingo with a real offense.

I say to hell with tolbert. We know what and who he is.

From a cap perspective, Tolbert probably is gone. But not because he's a terrible player. I was disappointed we didn't see more of Cropper in trash time..at least not that I saw. But I couldn't catch the 4th quarter because I was at work.
Everytime Cropper is in 1 of 3 things happen.

1) He makes a nice catch in a meaningless situation.
2) He false starts or commits a random penalty
3)he drops an easy ball

He was poised and in control, making nice catches and picking up extra yards after the catch.

He needs to be the 3/4 when Turpin is back. I just don't see what this staff sees in Tolbert, he must be a practice warrior because it hasn't show up on the field.

Didn't Tolbert have a 100-yard receiving game last year after we lost Lamb? It's great that Flournoy gave us one. Let's wait and see what it means.
No, his career high is 97 yards which came in week 17 vs backups with Milton starting.

Before we bury Tolbert let’s not forget Tolbert was an absolute beast on those onside kicks.
Tolbert helped save the game last week with the great catch at the 5 yard line as well.Tolbert ain't no slouch for sure .

I'm glad and think he can be a decent #2 and a great #3 in this league. I have been waiting for him to get a real shot over Tolbert, who had not impressed me much at all. I even made a post about this a couple weeks ago.

He's a body catcher who can barely get open. He makes a circus catch 4 times a year. Then is nowhere to be found the rest of the time. Guaranteed he leaves here he won't be close to sniffing a wr3 spot anywhere else.
Are we talking about T-Will or Tolbert????? :muttley:

Flournoy showed he had what it takes his rookie year in preseason when he beat starting CBs in preseason games. I have no idea why the Cowboys were so resistant to playing him, and keep in mind the did waive him and bring him back on the practice squad earlier in the season. It makes me wonder, what other young players are they suppressing rather than giving them some chances?

If anyone finds the highlight, look at the long run where Williams almost scores.... the guy who catches him, if Tolbert makes even the slightest effort to slow him down at all, Williams scores. Tolbert runs up to him and acts like the play should be over, barely even tries to touch him much less block him.

Found it. Tolbert in the slot at the bottom of the screen.

Speaking to this point there was a play where Pickens caught a slant early in the game and he kind of took 1 or 2 small
Hits trying to fight for yardage

If you see the replay the linemen (all backups ) are kind of jogging into frame. I hope this doesn’t come across as try-hard keyboard warrior but I want those guys sprinting to the action .

One to protect Pickens from hits or fumble. Two to push him forward for more yards. But also 3 to make any defender weary of trying to get extra hits in.

It’s a long season you need those guys protecting the other guys imo. And that stuff feeds off each other

Right, but he did have one really good game. Now, it was one game among many bad ones while Flournoy took advantage of the one shot he's really gotten. But there's so much that goes into individual success. Obviously, the Jets had their best corner covering Pickens, so how bad is the corner who was covering Flournoy? If he wouldn't be among the top three on most teams, then it was essentially a backup going against a backup. Now, Flournoy took advantage of his opportunity, and I want to see more, but we tend to break out the anointing oil a little early around here.
