Ryan Flournoy appreciation thread

Before we bury Tolbert let’s not forget Tolbert was an absolute beast on those onside kicks.
And he did make that falling-out-of-bounds catch against the Packers that helped us tie them. I'm not for getting rid of depth just for the fun of it. If we get all our receivers back health and can trade him for something, I'm OK with that, and I think he walks next year (as does Mingo), so we needed Flournoy to step up anyway.

Tolbert is a less gadget friendly Cedric Wilson.

He will get overpaid next season.

But he is best as WR3-WR4. Solid hands, has some big plays in his career but not consistent.

With Flournoy proving himself and Mingo coming back, I would at least try and see what Tolbert could bring on the trade market. A 5th or 6th probably isn't worth moving him for but perhaps a linebacker could be had.

I am trying real hard NOT to get too excited, but this kid plays like a 3-4 vet
It's one game and I'm betting Tolbert don't lose his job because the coaches like him now flo may have more upside, but I don't mean Tolbert's losing his job... It's likely that Brooks and Or cropper, could be the end of them, like period end of them, they may get cut right off the team, where Tolbert is definitely going to last a year.

Right now, this reminds me of Cedric(ced) Wilson which by the way players like him went and got contracts elsewhere and never became number twos or even a number one They have a role and occasionally they're going to give you a big bang but that don't make them great.

Or if you get excited a man has a great game but I'm not even getting hyped up over Rico's 200 yard game let me see more of it...

I mean just remember said yes, he changed his name thought he was really good was very inconsistent in giving this to the team but yes he he's had some good games I remember most of them were Cooper Rush they had a good thing going...

lastly, I have to remind everyone of this lamb most likely is coming back next week along with Pickens, The next target is Yup it's Ferguson, the next target most likely is Turpin, turpin still has the value of being a gadget guy that can do all kinds of stuff behind the line of scrimmage in space or take the top off a defense I don't think he's losing many snaps so where's the other targets coming from the extra balls I don't want to be throwing the ball 40 times a game we need to actually run the ball more not less..

So trying to get rid of Tolbert is one thing but when Turpin and Lamb are back I believe Flournoy is gonna not have as many opportunities he had yesterday he just needs to take advantage of them when he's in and next year he might have a bigger role for sure.

Say this because of his upsides that good then you guys shouldn't worry about him taking Pickens place next year 'cause I don't want to hear the complaints.. Is I know this for sure every time I hear George Pickens do an interview he's talking about maximizing his potential for his future you know what he means right him and his agent Mr David whatever his name is Mister Parsons agent they are setting themselves up because they want to go get a number one wide receiver job in a big bag..

This isn't about Jerry not wanting a pay a guy if this guy wants to be a number one it isn't going to be here so they're going to be back in the draft looking for another receiver next year that's my gut feeling I don't see George settling for number two he just doesn't have that personality he doesn't have that agent I just listen to him almost every interview and he has something good to happen he's saying he's maximizing his potential he's showcasing his talent he has said those words over and over...

He is using the Dallas Cowboys to get a big bag somewhere else to be the number one starter and I don't blame him he wants to be a starter he can't be here But we will get a good draft pick for him and it doesn't have to be a comp pick you can literally franchise tag him and then trade him...

That means next year are you this happy that you think Flournoy can be a clear number two? hmmmm .

nah hold out for 4th We've been missing a force for quite a while. BTW Mingo has done less than squat here.. he is not better than tolbert until he proves otherwise....

Also made some big catches I believe they were in overtime against the Giants it's not like he's been a ghost...

No, but I think it's safe to say that he is what he is at this point, a decent depth piece that isn't going to be more than a No. 3. Flournoy played like a No. 2 receiver Sunday. Hope he can keep it up because it will make Lamb, Pickens and Turpin even tougher to guard if he can regularly beat nickel/fourth corners.

Hes 85th out of 94 WRs with enough snaps to qualify in yards per route ran. 10 catches for 101 yards on 170 snaps is the very definition of being a ghost. Flournoy is sitting at 10 catches, 149 yards on 52 snaps. Thats a small sample size, but elite territory. Typically JAG level is around 1 yard per route a WR runs.

I said all offseason that Tolbert's 600+ yards last season were fools gold and more about the high volume of playing time he received than actual good play.

IDC I'm seeing this from a coach's view I know our coaching staff very well He has done nothing to actually lose his job therefore he's not going to be cut or traded He may lose a few snaps but I don't care what you call a ghost he's not a ghost when he's made big enough catches to help our team he's in the mix he's not a ghost i've seen him his number is one and I watched him on the field....

I get it you guys are in love with the big numbers and what he did this game and I get it but I'm telling you this coaching staff will not trade Tolbert they just may not resign him next year but he has done nothing wrong is what I'm saying...

By the way that's hilarious that's not Elite he had a great game a great half he's going to need to do it more consistently before you use the word Elite Oh my God dude you seriously just put WR5 and called him Elite no he had one great game like Rico did last year Rico is the farthest thing from an Elite back...

You guys with the overstatements and the words no elite is safe for real elite players I don't even know if George Pickens is elite CD lamb is Lambs proved it since he was a rookie And yes I would add George in there as a possible elite but I don't know what he looks like for a full 17 games when he's the only guy you know when he's double covered all the time..

Please don't use words like Elite for a guy who had one good game that's it one good game Yes he's good I didn't say he wasn't good but you guys are exaggerating everything during the game after the game a guy's good bad or a bust you guys all use words like that and they're not even true you guys were all over Fowler before the game and then what he knew he had a really good game...

Never said Flournoy was elite, I said his Y/RR metric is elite territory, and it is as this season his is #4 in the NFL behing just JSN, Nacua, and Diggs.

This coaching staff kept just 4 WRs on the active roster to open the season. Pickens isnt going anywhere....Lamb is coming back....Turpin is coming back....Mingo will be back...Flournoy has clearly passed Tolbert on the depth chart and wont be subjected to waivers again.

Unless we see another round of injuries at WR someone is going to have to get cut here in just a few weeks. Not saying Tolbert is for sure the odd man out, but he certainly should be on notice right now. It makes zero sense to keep Tolbert around if he is going to be a WR5 in his walk year. Its not best for the Cowboys to keep him around at that point, and honestly its probably not best for Tolbert either....let him go to weaker team at WR where he can possibly fight for some reps ans he heads into free agency. Sitting on the bench the rest of the year is going to cost him millions of dollars.

One thing people may not know is Flournoy has huge mits for a guy his size (10 1/8”). Always a plus for a reciever.

Bro, you literally said verbatim “Guys, you can quote me on this, Flournoy is ELITE!”

jk

Yeah the only real issue with Tolbert is the fan hype prior to the Pickens trade suggesting that he was a legitimate #2. Hes not even close, and really not even a very good WR3 in this league. Very good player to have on your roster as a #4/5WR type, but thats about it.
Nah has way too many drops already. He is also slower and doesn't run good routes. They need to cut him.
