He mentioned in the interview how the teachers were no help. Telling him he wouldn't amount to anything. Depending on the district in which he attended school, they have a history of doing things like that. It's like that "pipeline" thing that's talked about. I'm so glad he kept fighting. And I will be rooting for him with everything I've got. I'm sure Dez, Terrence, Tyrone Crawford, Red J, and Jerry Jones also want him to succeed.

He went to Midway High School in Waco, Texas. I looked up homes in the area and they were going for $300k. I am beginning to get a picture of what he may have had to deal with.

There have been a lot of really good football players that were probably terrible in the classroom. Just look at Terry Bradshaw...as Hollywood Henderson said...he couldn't spell cat if you spotted him the C and the A.

That is true, although there have been a lot of those guys who didn't make it because of their brains.

I agree in part. I like Church but I'd like someone a bit faster with better coverage skills who can also tackle as well as Church. I also like Heath although I have no idea how he'll turn out or even if he makes the team this year. I will say he can tackle and he runs very well. He just was far in over his head it's not funny. I'm pulling for him. He's faster than Wilcox and bigger. I want to develop the guy. He just may get caught up in the numbers. It'll be interesting to see if anyone likes him enough to take him off the PS IF that is where he lands.
I agree that Heath is a burner, but don't remember one tackle he made that stood out. Not Roy type of tackling, just a solid one on one situation. That fake strip move he liked to do while piggy backing on an opponent got too old for me. Every play he is "stripping" as a way to cover for the fact that the runner drug him five yards before help comes to get the opponent on the ground. I think that got to me more than most. His "move" when he is overmatched; he wasn't doing it to make a play etc. just trying to save face after the embarassment of his "tackling" attempt. He would make a great bull rider though.

Not sold on this guy, in fact I think he and the Fresh Prince are the most likely of the draftees to not make the team.

Guy seems to either not read plays or just doesn't trust his eyes enough to be a good SS in the league.

Sorry -- who's the Fresh Prince?

Dallas Cowboys

Seventh Round: 248th Pick

NFL Comparison: Johnathan Cyprien, Safety, Jacksonville Jaguars

I love guys who run through the Tackle like that. Reminds me of Roy Williams when he played well and Palumaulo. Very aggressive player - we need more of that!

Like the attitude, just hope he does not get a bullseye placed on him because of his reputation for targeting. That could make him play more tentative.

I saw him get run over but IMO he's a solid tackler...for a rookie safety from a D3 school thrown into the fire. He did ok for someone who had no idea what the heck was going on. But you may have a better memory than me. He needs another year or two and he may get that on the PS. I love his size and speed. Now he needs to learn who to cover and how to do it.

Wilcox will NOT be a weakness this year, in fact you are going to be pleasantly surprised.

I'm anxious to see how much of the learning curve is behind him. He should continue to progress as we go through the year also.

I don't know why the majority of the people on here don't like the Ahman Dixon pick. Ahman Dixon made 2nd team 2013 ALL AMERICAN TEAM. He had to be doing something good on the field to make this list. Some people think that every player on your team has to be first or second picks and they are future Pro Bowl picks. We know this is not true. All late round picks has something wrong with them, even a lot of first round picks. All the first picks in this year draft will not be impact players and make the Pro Bowl or All Rookie Team. The point I'm trying to make is you never about how a player will perform at the next level. I'm pulling for AHMAN DIXON to succeed and prove everybody that doubted him or counted him out wrong. This kid wanted to be a COWBOYS and learn to play football watching the Cowboys play. This kid already bleeds blue and silver. I believe this kid will work hard and put in work to be one of the best to play the game. One other thing, never judge man unless you have walked in his footsteps. There are many late round draft picks that has made it to the Pro Bowl and became impact players for their team. The latest being RICHARD SHERMAN the highest paid DB in the league today. We don't know his heart or will and bad he want this, but we will know soon. I hope he want it as bad as he want to breathe.

Looks like a good pick that late, just wish we would stop getting the same safety and get a guy who could cover first.

Is there a difference between JJ, Church, and Dixon.....in this league we need some coverage back there.

Im with you here. You could tell when he was talking about the jordans and name brands, yada

I really am rooting for this kid. He sounds so determined and thankful. Hopefully he can translate it to the field. Definitely can use improvement at the safety position

can't get over how good he looks in video. Is my second favorite player in draft (behind Demarcus). Why did he drop to 7th?

I'm not sure what video you are watching, but the video most see are highlight reels designed to show a player in the best light. Those videos have to be viewed with a cautious eye because the player likely won't look like that on a consistent basis.

No doubt, but why pile on the guy and call him trash when the guy overcame the odds to make it to the NFL. Actually started an NFL game and always gave 110 percent..I don't think anyone will stand up for his play but I think he deserves a little respect.

I'm not saying he's trash, and I agree. He's a human being. Just not an NFL caliber safety at this point.

I think he could develop into a nice contributor on special teams, and a backup. But I don't think he's got perennial starter potential. Not without a TON of work.
