Saban or Bellicheck would be the right HC hire!

It has to be someone who will run a 3-4 to get the best out of Micah. To me that is the first question to be answered.

Personally, I would love a young, innovative, modern Offensive HC from the Coaching Trees of McVay or Shanahan, but hiring either Saban or Bellicheck is what this franchise needs to do for their next HC hire when MM ultimately departs.

Why do we want a old retread HC?

If you read my last post about McClay, it's all about convincing Jerry/Stephen that they need to change how they operate, how they build a roster. A former coach with "clout" who they respect might be the only chance to convince change is needed. Bellicheck has 8 Super Bowl Rings, 6 with the Patriots as HC and 2 with the Giants as DC. Saban has 7 College Championship Rings. Both are considered the GOATS on each level.

-We know Bellicheck has strong ties with the Cowboys, working on the competition committee with Stephen for years. He also has a close relationship with Jimmy who helped him early in his HC career.

-Cowboys always had close ties with Alabama throughout the draft prep for years. People tend to forget that Jason Garrett was Saban's QB Coach while with the Miami Dolphins.

Both are 72 years old with a wealth of experience and motivation. Bellicheck wants to prove to Kraft that he can win without Kraft & Brady. As for Saban, he crashed and burned in his only opportunity as an NFL HC.

There are some benefits and pitfalls from each:

-Bellicheck remains a great DC, but struggles hiring competent OC's
-Saban is aware of all the college, modern schemes and talent, but he lacks experience in the NFL game.
Another example of how many Cowboys friends love retreads and crave mediocrity.

OP seems to have amnesia. Bobby Petrino and Nick Saban were two of the worst N.F.L. coaching hires and they both quit on their teams. Belicheat was fired from Cleveland before Brad, a quitter at the New York Jets, and shown rhe door after Brady.

Nabors the WR for Giants out several games with a concussion attended a concert , not exactly what the Dr ordered . Point being “ discipline “ is overblown to the extent players tune it out today .

Innovating and strategizing more important to me when you’re looking for a coach of 25 yr old millionaires who have the backing of a Union and Jerry Jones to run to when feelings get hurt .

Bobby Petrino was an outright disaster in ATL and was torched by players as he left . I don’t think Saban wants any part of the NFL scene .
Maybe Jerry can dust off Urban Meyer

Tired of these threads that argue for a coach to come in and fix Jerry's mess. Hasn't this been the problem for the last 30 years? No its time for a new GM who will hire the right coach and both of them will work together to build a new foundation.

You must be bored. Tired of the Jerry vs 105.7 fiasco? Jerry might interview these guys for attention. I see the Belicheck interview right before the Super Bowl so the Cowboys will get some exposure during bowl week. Jerry is not hiring either one.
Not really, I think he would seriously consider bringing Bill Belichick here.... It may not happen but he would be like a bill Parcells hire and I think that he would do it but I prefer Vrable, maybe Flores

by the way as much as none of us like the Mike McCarthy hire it seems like we're not me but a lot of you you do realize go back to 2020 show me all the head coaching availability and everyone of them was filled with who write their names on a list and I'm gonna tell you right now Mike McCarthy was the best hire in 2020 nobody's gonna come up with a better one because it didn't happen no other team brought in a better more successful coach from 2020 till right now they're all gone but the stuff Mike McCarthy's done here over the last three years none of them even come close to that so as much as we didn't like the hire he was a very successful hire compared to the other 5 or 6 that were hired in 2020 none of them were even close to as successful as Mike McCarthy you can call it what you will yes man a Gerry type guy but he it was the best hire..

As long as Jerry is pulling the strings behind the curtain, the culture in Dallas will never change, and that, my friends, is the chief reason why the Cowboys can't close the deal.

Saban failed miserably in the pros
He made one mistake and it cost him big-time.........choosing Duante Culpeper over Drew Brees. Besides with some coaches, it is not about the Xs and Os per se, it's the culture and discipline they bring with their high standards. They have access to some of the best assistance coaches. So putting a top staff together won't be a problem. I agree with OP.......or put it another way, what are your options?

**** Jerry isn't going anywhere
**** Kubiach, Ben Johnson, Arron Glenn? All three could become great NFL HCs but that's not the we are talking about. The issue is will Jerry trust an unproven assistance coach with his team, especially with a 2-3 year window? I don't think he will....but maybe.

Sidenote....When we see how financially conservative Jerry is, getting max investment return from his big contracts will be critical. That's a bit risky with an unknown assistant coach who may need a couple of years to find his footing. This is why OP makes a ton of sense, a proven experienced coach can assess the team's needs and hit the ground running.
