Sad State of Cowboys Fandom

This is NOT an "I told you so thread." But the sad reality is that I'm not at all disappointed in the Cowboys season so far, because I've learned not to attach ANY emotions at all to whether they win or lose.

My fan relationship with the Cowboys has become very clinical. Like a doctor examining a patient, I try to make a correct diagnosis, and I DO hope for the best. But if the patient dies, I shrug, and move on. I don't have an emotional stake in the team's success or failure any more.

I don't mind being emotionally attached to the Cowboys. It's been a near 5 decade love affair. I don't let the game encroach upon my life and the two seem to get along just fine.

The cowboys used to affect me a lot in my early years of fanhood. I thought those days were behind me. Yesterday I was mad all day. It did in fact ruin my day.

I need to reconsider this whole thing again.. maybe skip a few games. My wife knew to stay away from me and that's not ok.

Its the nature of it. Hard not to get mad when 12 different people send you text telling you how pathetic your team is.

I agree that we become numb to sports as we get older.
Ah, to be young and dumb and hanging onto your favorite team's

It isn't that I have become numb, the game is being ruined. It's just not the same.(excitement wise)

Geared towards the offense. The hitting thing is a must because it has gotten so dangerous. It's sad because I used to love it. Now I just like it. I didnt' even watch the game yesterday.

Jumbo---i totally get that...allowing cowboys to tug at my emotions has led me to mental issues...but i keep doing it...for me all the anger is placed on Red-Ball

I used to be super emotionally tied to every game. That was back when Landry was coach and you could afford to do that. If I got too attached to the team these days, they would drive me insane.

My brother-in-law is a cancer doctor, and has patients who die every week. He cares, but he cannot internalize all those losses. It would destroy him and his family. His patients love him, because he helps extend their lives. But ultimately, they all die...as do we all.

I don't think anyone can call themselves a fan of you don't have an emotional attachment to your team. It's good to be able to control it, but if you show no emotion it's not much fun.

For me 90% of the fun is in the pure analysis of the X's & O's, just to learn "what happened", even though it's like studying film w/o emotion at all.
Recently it's been akin to what performing an autopsy must feel like.
