Saddest movie death

There are bound to be many good ones in this thread, but for me the worst ones are always the deaths of dogs. I'm a sucker for that crap....My wife has seen me cry twice.....when my grandmother died, and when Marley died in "Marley and Me".

Saving Private Ryan is up there....

My wife fell asleep during the movie( not that she didn't enjoy it, she was just exhausted from work) and I started tearing up quite a bit during that scene where Owen Wilson is holding Marley and talking to him at the Vet.

I have always had pets, and it struck a nerve for me.

[Disclaimer: Please do NOT run with my first choice as an excuse for religious discussion under any circumstances!!!]

James Caviezel, The Passion Of The ******
Hilary Swank, Million Dollar Baby
Irrhan Khan, The Namesake
Christopher Reeve, Somewhere In Time

Does being already dead count?

Patrick Swayze, Ghost

[EDIT] The poor lynching victim in The Great Debaters
Jude Law, Cold Mountain

Anyone already say John Wayne? The Cowboys

Agreed, it's tough to watch someone go through that much torture. I felt sick to my stomach watching the whips gashing him.

Hey but
Muhammad Ali works!

John Coffey in "The Green Mile."

I wasn't expecting it when he told Tom Hanks not to put the black hood over his head cause he was afraid of the dark. I don't know if it was my time of the month or something, but I was blubbering like a baby.

the scene in Fried green tomatoes tore me up.

bad.

Kevin Bacon's narration at the end of My Dog Skip messed me up pretty damn bad.

What could be more painful than Old Yeller? :cry2:

Plenty of good choices, but I'll start with just four:

1) Leonard Nimoy - Wrath of Khan
2. Debra Winger - Terms of Endearment
3) Viggo Mortensen - The Road
4) Bambi's mother - Bambi

I haven't seen any of these movies:)

John Wayne in The Cowboys. My gosh Bruce Dern was the most hated man in America for years after that scene.

Old Yeller. Bill Murray in Stripes got it exactly right.

The slaughter of "The 50" in "The Great Escape" because of its Historical accuracy and significance.

Ricky in Boyz N The Hood
Radio Raheem in Do The Right Thing
Bruce Pearson in Bang The Drum Slowly
Lenny in Of Mice And Men
The Champ in The Champ
