My thoughts as well.

If we went into the season with Church wouldn't mind that. I also wouldn't mind drafting another safety to give Church and Wilcox motivation to improve.

Wilcox has some room to improve. At least he has the excuse of still learning the position. Church is what he is, a limited player athletically. I do not think motivation is his problem.

Church is serviceable; that is all. Wilcox has some upside but it is debatable how much more he can improve in his range and instincts.

I'd put him right at "needs a better pass rush".

If you cant cover a TE what does pass rush even matter? If on 3rd down they can run a 2 sec route and be open on our starting caliber safety, no dline will help you..Wait maybe JJ Watt.

Marinelli mentioned the other day the need for a pass rush, I think that was the weakest area. I commend the job this defense did, they played hard and hustled and never quite. They made some big stops and had some big takeaways but if there was one area that hurt us was inconsistent pass rush and the inability to bring heat on the blitz.

Imagine what they could have accomplished with just one or two extra impact players? Such as Justin Durant not being on IR down the stretch, or even an improvement over Nick Hayden on the interior, giving guys like Lawrence and Spencer more one on ones?

Good days ahead, I imagine. I was very upset with how the season ended, but encouraged for this team moving forward.

I wish Durant could have made it, losing him hurt. The other thing was losing Lee of course and losing Lawrence in training camp only to come back and suffer an injury, it was a real set back. He has a lot of work to do this off season to get himself ready for OTA and training camp.

Isn't that on the LB'rs?

Pending on coverage pending on situation. The SS position plays generally closer to line of scrimmage since FS is over top. If we are having a two deep safety set do you see Church as much anymore? They know his coverage skills aren't..awesome. But who is going to go on field for him? Heath? I dont know why Hamilton didn't get action but we need someone.
