What kind of piss poor excuses are these? That's football, a heck of a lot different than dropping a pass you had momentary control of in your hands.

no it isn't. if drew brees threw the ball 2 inches higher it would have not been an int. that is the same as a wr catching and dropping a ball.

The Saints look good, but they don't look 07 Pats good.

Brady didn't look human.

i would agree, but so far this saints team looks even better.
Are you saying the 2009 Saints look better than the 2007 Patriots?

i think the saints could beat them if they played, yes. saints defense is causing tons of turnovers. mix that with an amazing offense.... saints can also run the ball.

This is true. I think they have a better running game and a much better playing making Defense, but the '07 Pats in every other phase were better and Brady didnt start showing any struggles til the 2nd half of the season. Brees has only had 1 great game since the first two weeks and has already went 2 games with no TDs and had 3 INTs last week. Brady threw 30 TDs thru 8 games and only had 2 INTs. No comparison.

I'd say they have just as explosive an offense and a much better running game imo.

defensively, no.

the defense actually won them a game when brees was terrible. that is a complete team.

Just for fun:

2007 Patriots through 6 games:
Points For - 230
Points Against - 92
Point Differential - 138

2009 Saints through 6 games:
Points For - 238
Points Against - 127
Point Differential - 111

Not all that different. The 2009 Saints are certainly in their neighborhood and that scares the poo-poo outta me.

i have no idea what you're talking about.

the pats also had games handed to them at the end of the year. of course, the saints can all the sudden suck at the end of the year too...

We would have to compare total yds, rush yds, pass yds, scoring, rush defense, pass defense, total defense, scoring defense, special teams, and opponent winning percentage...only then could we actually have some sort of decent comparison.

also have to take into account the pats purposefully running up the score in every game they played.

The Pats overcame a 10 point 4th quarter deficit(and officiating) and came back and beat a 7-0 Colts team on the road.

That>>>>>anything the Saints have did

If we're just focusing on the 1st half of the season, the Pats D was clearly better in every phase except INTs and returning them to the house. Neither side of the ball started struggling til the 2nd half of the season and outside of the game against us, the Pats were never challenged the 1st half of the season.

Saints nearing 2007 Patriots territory
Monday, November 2, 2009 | Print Entry

Adam Schefter answers readers' questions nearly every day in his blog. Monday, he's turning his attention to the MNF matchup between the Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints. Have a query of your own? Submit it right here.

Q: Do you think this year's Saints could be put on the same level as the 2007 Patriots, at least from the standpoint of sheer offensive dominance? Is it crazy to think they could run the table?
--Eric (Shreveport, La.)

A: As crazy as it sounds, Eric, it's not out of the question. So far, the Saints have scored an average of 39.7 points per game, which put them on pace to score an NFL single-season record 635 points, considerably more than the 589 that the Patriots scored in 2007. The other outstanding single-season marks are the 556 points the Vikings scored in 1998 and the 541 the Commanders scored in 1983. It'll be real tough for New Orleans to maintain that pace all season, but the Saints' offense is good, its schedule is soft and it cannot be dismissed, not with a quarterback as good as Drew Brees.
