Teams are now free to make him an offer and the Saints can decide to match or let him go for 2 first round picks

Dallas needs to do the same with dez. And we will surely find out that "no team" will spend 2 on him. I also likethe1 year deal before we let him walk the fllowing season. If by chance he proves me wrong by having a breakout season we get a player who has shown he help a team win and we can pay in 2016.

Last year wasn't a breakout season?

We done n got 2. I know many can't wait to put the fail tag on Escobar but I got bad news for em.

Escobar has a good way to go before he's a proven commodity. Thus far, he's been a non-factor, but you just keep on believing.

Also, Witten is getting uncomfortably close to the end of his career, so sitting pretty wouldn't describe our situation too accurately.

I agree that Jason will get a little less targets in 14'. I have to believe that Escobar will get much more pt and some of that may come at the expense of 82. But don't expect a huge decline from the incumbent. Witten was a top 3 TE last season and won't fall out of the top 9

Good chance for someone in that division to make a nice offer and put the Saints right back in cap trouble. Would be perfect for the Panthers but Richardson is a tight old geezer.

Olsen is good enough to not warrant that. If he is a WR then yeah they should.

What do u think? he is worth 2 #1s ? reply back make me lol

I'm not talking about the two 1st round picks, it'll be a cold day in hell before I think any WR is worth two first rounders. I wouldn't give two 1st's for Calvin Johnson.

I'm talking about your saying that he has to prove you wrong by having a breakout 2014, like he didn't have a breakout 2012 and 2013.

Olsen's alright but I would try to drive the price up if I was the GM of Carolina or anyone else in the division. I say Carolina cause they're not sittin to good at receiver anyway and they're gonna stink it up next year. You heard it here first.

I'll trust what the scouts thought of him and what I seen till I see different. Stop lusting over players on other teams and waiting on ours to fail and get old. But yea someone will get a good receiver.

Surprised the Saints used the tag on him, he is probably going to be designated a WR by the NFL and with a huge tag number, like $12 million or so if I remember correctly.

Didn't realize the Saints had that much cap room to use the tag..................I am so used to being millions over every year with our excellent cap management............LOL

I like our TE's. Witten is a great catch and fall TE, he cant run anymore very much, but hes still got hands. Escobar showed me flashes of what could be and if he hits that mark, he will be a good one for a long time, seems like he could become a perfect Witten replacement next year or the year after. I think we can scratch TE's from FA and first three rounds of the draft. If you take a flyer on potential in later rounds I would not mind that.

Witten finished 5th in receiving yards for a tight end. He also finished tied for 6th in yard per catch by tight ends with at least 50 receptions on the season. Not bad for a guy who can't run.

I agree. Back-to-back seasons with 90+ receptions and 12+ receiving TDs. Seems as if he broke out already.

That was 14 years ago.

Jerry hasn't learned a thing
He makes just as stupid decisions now as back then

How many years ago was Roy Williams?
How many years ago was franchising spencer twice?

I guess if is ground hog day for cowboy fans

None of those involved trading two first round picks.
