Saints place non-exclusive tag on Jimmy Graham

I'll trust what the scouts thought of him and what I seen till I see different. Stop lusting over players on other teams and waiting on ours to fail and get old. But yea someone will get a good receiver.

Just making observations based on what I've seen and not necessarily what others have. Nobody's lusting m'friend but it might be nice if we were in position to make offers to other teams for free agents is all I'm saying. The thought of Witten getting over the hill doesn't appeal to me any more than anyone else. I've, in fact, admired him greatly throughout his career. Nevertheless, the day will come when we'll need to keep the youth coming in. It's merely a fact, nothing more or less than that.

I like our TE's. Witten is a great catch and fall TE, he cant run anymore very much, but hes still got hands. Escobar showed me flashes of what could be and if he hits that mark, he will be a good one for a long time, seems like he could become a perfect Witten replacement next year or the year after. I think we can scratch TE's from FA and first three rounds of the draft. If you take a flyer on potential in later rounds I would not mind that.

Witten's not finished by any means just yet but the youth movement must be maintained, nevertheless. I'm hoping Escobar will eventually prove he's what the scouts think he may become when we drafted him, so haven't given up on him either. I doubt we'll take a TE anytime early in this draft and perhaps not at all in 2014. Escobar will probably be obliged to develop further this year with that in mind. If that doesn't happen, we may very possibly continue pursuing TE prospects next year, though. Let's just hope there won't be any need for that.

Just wait, Bullflop. One day you'll log in here and the usual crew will be calling Witten a bum, telling him to take a pay cut, or that he sucks and we need to cut him immediately, just like they are with DeMarcus Ware.

That has already happened the last few seasons.

It happened the one year Witten was playing with a ruptured spleen.

Well, I'm not like those knee-jerks fellas that have no respect for what Witten still is and has been. There's still some tread left. I'm not overanxious to see him depart -- just thinking about the need to think ahead is all. I've seen what your're talking about, tho.
