Carney was the first guy I thought of when we started kicking around the idea of bring in competition for Folk. I knew he had lost the job in New Orleans, but wasn't sure if he'd been cut yet or not. I'd also cut Suisham right now. Carney may not have a strong leg anymore, but I think he would be more reliable inside 40.

3 of his 4 misses have been between 30-39 yds.

And Wade said Suisham was good from 55 with the wind at his back today. (Not a huge wind, either.)

Supposedly Vinatieri will be ready week 17. That might mean that Stover will be available soon after. Something to think about if the Suisham experiment doesn't work out this weekend.

We certainly can't fault for the Saints organization for lacking intelligence. This move was crafty, even insidious in its execution. They deliberately waited for the Cowboys to sign a kicker before releasing one who has been reliable throughout his distinguished career.

As if we can't cut Suisham and sign Carney today.

i guess as long as hes making them in practice. Its more than we could say about folk.
Although i do hope we see folk back in practice next year.

I think they are on about the same level (w/Suisham). Either one will do about the same job. I just don't think you're gonna get the money in the bank kicker this time of year. There's a reason each is available. If they were great, they wouldn't be unemployed.

If he misses one from that distance, we'll forgive him. Just make the 45 and unders.

I think Dallas should sign him BEFORE Suisham falters. I'd cut Suisham for Carney right now.

OMG. I would so do this yesterday.

Yeah, I would never be nervous when John Carney was up to kick.

I don't want any part of Carney. I hate kickers but I really hate kickers who miss PATs.

Yeah. How many XPs has he missed in his illustrious career? ;) Gotta love the minute sample to support a weak slant.

I'd let Swishy ride it out for this next game, but if he doesn't look good, I'd have Carney on speed dial.

I'm inclined to see what Suish can do. Is Carney likely to be picked up by some other team before next Monday? Packers maybe?

...you can take 7-10 yards off your distance. You need a strong leg to kick off grass.

Packers would have to be really desperate to look at Carney.

He has missed 4 PAT's in the last 5 seasons, including a season-ender (literally). On top of that, he's 45 years old.

But yeah, we're slanting it.

Just curious, do you know how many of those, if any, were blocked?
