I'm convinced we can win a super bowl with tony romo even this year. everything has to fall into place starting with the running game and health. but assuming we don't, we have to start building for next year and after to win a title the following two years. after the o-line and d-line are improved, you have to get the next quarterback to take us to the next level. who? sam Bradford. I think he's the kind of player that management could get some how. to come in, with his arm and at that time several years of experience in the league, pr positives being from this part of the country, Heisman. tony romo would go to the sidelines in all probability at that point but could be a great mentor and back up for a dynamite team. my take is we would have to have a top flight qb to keep us to a high level and win a title. sam Bradford would be that guy at that time frame.
go cowboys from Tulsa, Oklahoma.

I don't know if the Cowboys will make that run this year but I do think there is a good chance this team will be much better. I think some guys really started showing themselves on offense by mid season as the Cowboys avg 28 points a game however a defense that was decimated by injury made things very difficult for the team, heck we were picking guys up off the streets on a Monday and they were playing the following Sunday. I think if they can avoid as many key injuries as they had they can be a vastly improved team.

Still some areas of weakness that must be addressed before talk of championships can even be mentioned.

Sam Bradford....no way...he is failing for the St. Louis Rams. Completion percentage average for three years is 58%. High interception and Fumble rate.

You must be a Rams fan trying to pawn this guy off on us. No way the Cowboys want anything to do with Bradford.

The Cowboys need to stick to the draft and find a good young QB coming out in the next few years.

the rams have the same kind of problems we have. bad offensive line, no pass rush. but tony romo and sam Bradford are not the problem for dallas and st. Louis. there's unjustified criticism for both qb's because of the team. with better o-lines these two guys can be great. no doubt.

one other thought... if we do draft a quarterback in the next two years my vote would be Oregon's marcus mariota. you have to depend on the eye test at this point but he looks to have it all. and a main ingredient is composure. the one thing I looked for most from troy aikman was that composure when things got shaky.

Why go after Bradford, didn't we just sign Romo to an extension?

we signed romo to be the guy for two years of effectiveness in essence. I don't think he's going to be effective as a starter after that simply because of his age. he'll be beaten up at that point. he'll have to be replaced but not off the team. so, i'm sugguesting at that time we will be a top level team that needs a top level quarterback that's in his prime. sam Bradford would be that guy with tony romo as a great mentor / back-up.

Though I agree that Romo is in no way locked in for the full length of his cotract, I think they're looking at him more for 4 years than 2.

Is this a St Louis Rams bait thread? I didn't even know such a thing existed.

this whole premise is an impossible scenario. you really think romo can be kept as a backup with his salary, AND then add bradford via trade or FA at a starter's salary?? NO WAY

Pretty evident the OP is a Bradford fan from Tulsa.

Welcome.

Unfortunately Sam is very unlikely to ever be a Cowboy.

TR is signed long-term here and Bradford is well paid in St. Louis.

The Rams area young team being built around Bradford and they are improving. They aren't getting rid of Sam anytime soon.

I think it is more likely that Jason Garrett suits up for us at QB than we sign Bradford and make Romo his backup.

first of all I'm 52 and have been a cowboy fan since I was 10. all cowboys, nothing but... so yes I am totally serious about my assesment. in 2015 tony romo will be 35. like I said, I don't think 'at that time' (not this year or next year) we will be a competing, top level team that will need a qb 'in his prime'...I am of the opinion that at 35 he will be too old or beat up to take us to a title. still talented, just 35. again, I think he would make a great mentor and backup for a younger qb in his prime like sam Bradford. jim McMahan was just that for multiple qb's including the 1995 packers and brett favre.

I'm not going to criticize. If we improved the offensive line and got Bradford, I think we'd be a more coachable offense with less limitations... Bradford has a bigger arm and could probably threaten the field better than Romo.

But I think it would be very tough to pull off. The Rams have him secured for a while and they're actually starting to put something together over there. He's there guy.

In 2015 Tony Romo is scheduled to make 17 million dollars.

Did Jim McMahon make 17mil in 1995?

In today's NFL a guy like Romo will never be a back up. He makes too much.

Peyton is 37, he was 2nd for NFL MVP at 36.
Brady is 35.

I think if we made that kind of a move, management would do what they do to offset that kind of salary.
no, we would not pay 17mil to a back up and no jim McMahan didn't either. I didn't suggest that. hey, there's nothing like conversation. good thing about these message boards is you can go back and read what was actually typed in...

I hate to burst your bubble GC, but no team in their right mind would get rid of a franchise QB in their prime, unless the Cowboys did something ridiculous like mortgage the entire draft or give away multiple first round picks. Even then, I doubt it would be possible.

As bad as Romo's situation has sucked (and it has sucked really bad having very little protection) Sm Bradford is in a much worse situation. He really hasn't had a lot to work with in terms of receivers.
