Sam Hurd gets second-round tender, Proctor too

You could park him on the side of the road with a sign that said FREE hanging from his neck and you still wouldn't get rid of him!

(somebody should photoshop that little gem sometime...)

Reminds me of a craigslist ad that I saw.

Some dude was advertising a "slightly broken" fridge that was free but the ad said something like.

"Slightly broken fridge. Been stored in my basement for about a year. Free, you haul".

1st thing I thought when I read the ad was:

"Haul my heavy garbage for me".

As poor has procter has played we need everything we have on oline right now until we pick up something better. I pray we upgrade before the season start or we will be in trouble

So nice to be in an offseason where the only thing to gnash and wail about is the team giving tenders to key role players.

Really??? Well there goes the McCluster or Gilyard dreams. Way to crush them jerry. Thanks.

Not necessarily. Wait and see how everything plays out. If the Cowboys cut Marion Barber, it " could " open up a slot for McCluster as a 3rd RB/returner.

Gilyard was never a fit. He tends to drop passes and the Cowboys already have one of the best 3rd/slot receiver in the NFL by the name of Patrick Crayton. At best, and I mean at the very top best, Gilyard would be used exclusively as a punt or KO returner, but he'd had to beat out somebody like Ogletree or Hurd for a spot on the roster and both of them are better receivers than he is.

Might not be as fast as he is, but they are better.

He is the only backup center we have on the roster. Hes not a guard but at center hes serviceable.

He backs up two OL positions on gamedays. There's a reason why they gave him the tender. You may not like him, but he's a key OL player.

I dont care how many guys are better at the college level or how many blocks he miss... Procter can play on my team anyday!

Jerry Jones' love child will be on dancing with the stars if he keeps it up!

I love those skinny legs!!!!

key words are "backs up"
we've seen him actually play are no one was impressed
drafting an OL really couldn't be any worse

oh yay he pumps up the crowd.

Last time I checked we have hot cheerleaders who do that.

Ya he's totally worth it.

You really are full of yourself, aren't you, Slate??

While I don't have a dog in this hunt (meaning I don't care one way or the other about Hurd), I can't resist noting that YOU think that Hurd isn't worth a second round tender, but the Cowboys clearly do...

I wonder whose opinion I should find more compelling??

Still, though, why do you think Hurd is 2nd round tender worthy?

You keep using the words "key" and "role player" and I'm not sure they mean what you think they mean. :laugh2:

When you feel the urge to say "God Forbid" before explaining the conditions necessary for a player to actually see playing time, there is nothing key about him.

I find it funny that people are up in arms about any player's worth in an uncapped year.

If Jerry wants to give him $10 million for the 2010 season, have at it. It's not my money.

The only concern I'd have is over any long-term contracts that could have ramifications when a new cap is in place. None of these tenders qualify as that.

The point is, why I think it is less important than why the Boys think it... I can only assume that they value his special teams play, and think that in the event of injury, he could step into a bigger role as a WR...

Of course, the Boys aren't infallible, and are quite capable of making personnel mistakes... but it seems to me that here lately, they've done a pretty good job of putting together a nice talent base, so it's rather arrogant of some in here to act as if their judgement is superior to the team's talent evaluators...

I shake my head at some of their decisions too-- Procter in particular-- but I'm willing to entertain the notion that maybe, just maybe, they know something I don't...
