Sam Young...

He's a guy who came into Notre Dame with all world hype and never lived up to it.

I was just hoping he could be a decent backup.

^^Yeah he wasn't very good in the first place. His resume is misleading because he had all those starts at Notre Dame but he sucks

Why would anyone expect anything from him? Seriously! He was a top recruit to a major-visibility program that did nothing there. He has very average at best physical numbers at his tests and was a late draft pick. If I was Jerrah, which I'm not, I would take a late flyer on an unknown kid from a back-water program that might have been missed.

The light has been on this kid for years and he has never produced. If it walks like a duck... you get the idea.

well if he doesn't make it out of camp I guess it would be time to bring someone in?

the Broaddus disagrees. Matter of fact one of his Scout's Eye article pointed out all the youth on the O-Line and how their camp was going.

No offense but I don't trust what Broaddus says...

You know, Sam Young can't be beaten by any of Cowboys DL, if he does he just plain sucks :D On other the other hand if cowboys DL is getting pushed around by Cowboys OL, then they suck :D You see either way some is sucking today. :p:

He struggled last year in camp as well...

Rafael Vela has also reported good things as well. He's gonna go through the ups and downs of a developing player. He was getting playing time at the end of season and the coaches liked what they saw. He just needs another year IMO.

No he didn't. From all reports he did better than expected. Unless we have selective memory about it. Even Nate Newton said Sam Young is promising guy. I trust Nate when he says something positive about OL.

He is not going to be starter this year, but there was chance of it. So just because he gets beat few times, he suddenly doesn't become a scrub.

I didn't care for the pick back in 2010 and I haven't changed my mine now... He lacks the athleticism to be a real tackle.

Ive heard a lot of good about Sam Young.

We'll see for ourselves soon enough.

Alright then, did you let Jerry/Garrett know about it, so that he can cut him now? ;)

Yeah Nate Newton gets excited over a happy meal... I don't take his analysis very serious.

:laugh2:

I'll guess we will have to wait and see. Realistically where did you see Young fitting in this group w/ Smith being drafted?

This is one of Reality's classic "I told you so's".

Take a late, late round draft pick and tell everyone he sucks and you called it. Late rounders don't pan out at around 85%-90%...great odds to flex your e-muscles. Of course, e-muscles are like big trucks...overcompensating for something that's small in real life.

He needs to be at least a solid backup who can be a swing tackle.

So you don't trust the evaluations of a former scout (Broaddus) or NFL offensive lineman (Nate) but you do trust the evaluation skills of a Cowboys beat writer (Ellis)?
